McArdle and More Head to Metropolitan Room

Andrea McArdle headlines for two weeks beginning August 13 and superstars Barb Jungr and Marilyn Maye return the first week of September in overlapping two-week stints as The Metropolitan Room (currently rated Best Cabaret by New York Magazine) brings the summer to an exciting crescendo!  Some of the other notable acts showing up between now and the equinox are the jazz phenom Patti
Wicks, stage legend Tammy Grimes, emerging talent Grace Cosgrove, sultry French Tony winner Yvonne Constant, plus the gorgeously matched jazz duo of Stephanie Nackasian and Hod O'Brien.

Jazz icon Annie Ross continues her long-running engagement every Tuesday at 9:30pm with her stellar band featuring the incomparable Warren Vaché on trumpet. (Cover $25)

Andre McArdle, in her Metropolitan Room debut, premieres "You Don't Know Me." 8 performances with special surprise guests: Wednesday through Saturday August 13, 14, 15, 16 and Friday through Monday August 22, 23, 24, 25.  All shows at 7:30pm except August 24 at 7pm. (Cover $30)

The highly praised jazz duo Stephanie Nackasian & Hod O'Brien come off recent appearances at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola and whirlwind touring for their first Metropolitan Room foray: Friday & Saturday August 15 & 16, both at 9:45pm (Cover $20).

Grace Cosgrove in "Jump/Cut" (music director Don Rebic, directed by Eric Michael Gillett) leaps into our hearts with radiant humor, joy and soft-spoken sophistication in a once-a-month engagement through December:   All Saturdays -- August 16, September 27, October 18, November 15, December 13, all at 5pm. (Cover $15)

Barb Jungr, in her fourth Metropolitan Room engagement, premieres a new show dedicated to Nina Simone.  "I Got Life" performs eight times: Thursday & Friday September 4 & 5; Thursday thru Saturday September 11, 12, 13; and Thursday thru Saturday September 18, 19, 20.  All shows are at 7:30pm.  (Cover $20).

In her earth-moving fifth Metropolitan Room stand, the legendary Marilyn Maye displays a veritable mood-ring of emotional colors in what she's calling a paean to "the lady at the bar." Just seven shows, so make your reservations early! Saturday through Tuesday September 6, 7, 8, 9, and Sunday through Tuesday September 14, 15, 16.  All shows at 7pm except Tuesday September 6 at 7:30pm.

The remarkable jazz singer-pianist Patti Wicks enchants with her clairvoyant, idiosyncratic style for a special two-night return engagement (her third) Thursday/Friday September 18 & 19, both at 9:45pm.  This sight-challenge New York native travels extensively throughout the East Coast jazz circuit and to Europe, but she's making the Metropolitan Room her New York home.  (Cover $20)

The two-time Tony winner Tammy Grimes will be back by popular demand.  Three nights only: Monday through Wednesday September 22, 23, 24, all at 7pm (Cover $30)

The sultry French chanteuse and Tony winner Yvonne Constant, who earned a bouquet of plaudits for her turn in the City Center Encores! production of "Follies" in 2007, takes a fascinating look at the men in Edith Piaf's life.  "Paris On the Road to Piaf," co-conceived by her longtime music director Russ Kassoff, plays four nights in September and October: Thursday September 25, Sunday September 28, Sunday October 19 and Thursday October 23, all shows at 7pm except October 23 at 9:45pm. (Cover $25)
