When we often feel powerless about how we can lend a helping hand to a world in need, Kate Pfaffl and Ben Houghton have created an avenue for New Yorkers and Broadway performers to help those who need it most, by simply doing what they do best: singing their hearts out on stage!
Pfaffl and Houghton joined forces in Tamil Nadu, India as teaching artists through ASTEP (Artists Striving to End Poverty), and returned to NYC to create the first Broadway Babies concert in April 2016. All funds raised from the evening went toward operating costs, arts funding, and the development of a scholarship program to bring volunteer teaching artists to the school, upon which Shanti Bhavan heavily depends. As a result of the concert's huge success, they were able to send teaching artist Joshua Hinck to share his musical knowledge with the children of the Shanti Bhavan Children's project in India for 3 months. Proceeds from the Nov. 21 concert will go towards continued scholarships for teaching artists, ensuring a lasting quality education for the children of Shanti Bhavan. If you're looking for the way that you can help make a difference in the world, this is your chance. Help these beautiful children have a future, as you watch Broadway stars share their voices and hearts to shine brightly in their honor.
