Martha Lorin to Complete Year-Long Cafe Noctambulo Residency with BODY AND SOUL 12/20

Ralph Lampkin/Lampkin Music Group and Christopher Gines/Cafe Noctambulo are proud to announce that renowned jazz singer Martha Lorin will end her one-year residency at downtown's favorite music venue, the fabulous Cafe Noctambulo at Pangea with a fabulous new show, "Body and Soul," on December 20th @ 8:00 - 10:00 pm. Two Jazz Sets.

Joining Martha are the Steve Laspina trio featuring top-shelf musicians: Matthew Fries on piano, Steve Laspina on bass and John Di Fiore on drums. Lorin, critically acclaimed for her rich vocal tone and expressive interpretation of lyric, will perform classic and new standards reflecting life's many moods.

I would be hard-pressed to think of a better room for this kind of sophisticated, intimate jazz show. Lorin is a take-charge, take-no-prisoners jazz vocalist in a long line of strong, talented female singers like Anita O'Day. There is a sense of adventure and abandon in her set that is thrilling and can even be a bit daunting to an audience member who might not yet trust her musical powers. She delights in shifting and bending time to a sometimes audacious degree, but always comes out on top. While there may be a planned set, her adherence to it is by no means assured.
