CURTAIN'S UP FOR A CURE was the idea of Jacey, a teenager from Michigan with Juvenile Huntington's disease. Jacey's dream is "to see the lights of Broadway" & have a Broadway celebrity event to create awareness & raise funds to find a cure for this fatal disease. The HDSA New York Chapter granted Jacey's wish & in 2007. CURTAIN'S UP FOR A CURE continues to honor Jacey & her dream by bringing together the best of Broadway & New York's top cabaret performers in this annual event. As in past years, HDSA NYC expresses its gratitude to the Broadway community for the kindness & generosity of those who sponsor & put together this grand benefit show.

Founded in 1968 by Marjorie Guthrie, wife of folk legend Woody Guthrie who lost his battle with Huntington's Disease, HDSA is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by HD, working tirelessly to provide family services, education, advocacy & research to provide help for today and hope for tomorrow for the more than 30,000 people in the United States who are currently diagnosed with HD & over 250,000 who are at risk. HD is a devastating, hereditary, degenerative brain disorder that results in a loss of cognitive, behavioral & physical control & slowly diminishes the affected individual's ability to walk, think, talk & reason. Symptoms usually appear in an individual between 30 & 50 years of age, but cases of juvenile HD have been diagnosed in children as young as two. Eventually, a person with HD becomes totally dependent upon others for his or her care. They have yet to find the cure. The Society is comprised of 54 local chapters & affiliates across the country with its headquarters in New York City. To learn more about Huntington's disease & to get involved in HDSA, visit www.hdsa.org or call 1-800-345-HDSA.

The event will be held on Monday, December 9th ~ Performance @ 7:30pm Complimentary Cocktails & Hors d'oeuvres @ 6:30pm at the NYIT Auditorium ~ 1871 Broadway [bet. 61st & 62nd Street]. Tickets: $65 & $75 (VIP seating). For reservations, visit https://www.hdsa.org/gnych/. All proceeds benefit Huntington's Disease Society of America's Greater New York Chapter.
