French soprano Marie Zamora will perform "An Evening of Songs from Musicals and Movie Musicals" at Lycee Francais New York on Wednesday, March 23rd at 7:30pm. She will be joined by Stephen Buntrock (Phantom of the The Opera) and Peter Lockyer (Les Miserables) and accompanied on piano by music director Gerry Steichen. The evening will be directed by Jen Bender.
The one-night-only concert features music performed in both French and English, including songs from Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, My Fair Lady, and Chicago, and the films The Thomas Crown Affair and Les Parapluies de Cherbourg.
Zamora created the role of Cosette in the original French production of Les Miserables at the Mogador Theatre in Paris. She went on to star as Kate in Kiss Me, Kate at the Geneva Opera House and as Mrs. Barnum in Barnum at the Celestins Theatre. She has traveled the world performing with Oscar-winning composer and recording artist Michel Legrand, and can be seen on the DVD recording of Hey Mr. Producer, a concert celebrating the career of producer Cameron Macintosh, featuring an all-star cast including Hugh Jackman, Judi Dench, Julie Andrews, and Bernadette Peters.
A graduate of the Conservatoire National Superior de Paris, Zamora recently performed to a sold-out crowd at Joe's Pub. In 2000, she released the self-titled album Marie Zamora-Comedies Musicals: Musiques De Films.
Zamora is married to lyricist and librettist Alain Boublil (Les Miserables, Miss Saigon).
