54 BELOW introduces two musical weekend brunches to make the weekend a little more enjoyable - Jazz Brunch on select Sundays and Sing, Harlem, Sing! Gospel Brunch on select Sundays.

 

JAZZ SUNDAY BRUNCH at 54 BELOW, Sundays July 29 – August 26 at 1PM:

Jazz Sunday Brunch at 54 BELOW brings some of the brightest jazz artists in town to the stage of 54 Below for a terrific Sunday afternoon of music, food, and drink.  Performance begins at 1PM. Doors open at Noon.  $30 cover charge. $25 food and beverage minimum or a $45 prefix menu. 

 

MARCUS Paul Jones, July 29 - Marcus Paul James, currently starring in Rent at New World Stages, was also seen in Broadway's In the Heights, and in the closing cast of Rent at the Nederlander Theatre. Marcus is also featured in the Sony film Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway. The singer/songwriter has released two albums: Electrik Love EP and Meant To Be, both from Silver Towers Productions. Expect a smooth, sultry afternoon of music as he serves up tunes old and new.
 
Eric Comstock & Barbara Fasano, August 5 - Multi award winners for their recordings and performances, jazz pianist/singer Eric Comstock and jazz/pop vocalist Barbara Fasano are among the New York nightclub world’s most celebrated teams. Whether the song is by Cole Porter or Paul Simon, Duke Ellington or Joni Mitchell, Comstock and Fasano make it fresh and new, and their audiences feel they've been to a terrific party where the music and the stories have been equally great. 
 
Alysha Umphress, August 12 - Recently appearing in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, the vocal dynamo known as Alysha Umphress has also graced Broadway in On a Clear Day You Can See Forever and in the original cast of American Idiot. Her repertoire ranges from sultry interpretations of tunes made popular by Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughn, to modern day compositions from the likes of Etta James and Joss Stone
 
Julie Reyburn, August 19 - Julie Reyburn has established herself as one of New York cabaret’s most beloved vocalists. Her ability to connect to a lyric with unique interpretations led her to being the first ever Nightlife Award recipient for Outstanding Female Vocalist in 2003, and has further garnered her four MAC Awards and two Bistro Awards. In 2007, Julie was presented the coveted Julie Wilson Award from the Mabel Mercer Foundation and is a frequent guest soloist at Town Hall’s Broadway by the Year and the Cabaret Convention at The Rose Theatre at Lincoln Center. Having graced the stages of the top clubs in Manhattan, 54 Below is delighted to have Julie and her musicians with us for a swingin’ afternoon of jazz! 
 
ALEX BUGNON, August 26 - The Bugnon sound is a white hot, slow burning mixture of contemporary jazz, funk and R&B with a dash of gospel thrown in for good measure. Alex grew up in Montreux, Festival, and has gone on to delight audiences worldwide as both pianist and composer with his sophisticated musical style - an exotic blend or rhythms with haunting, soulful refrains.  His many recordings have graced the Top 40 R&B charts many times over, and he is the recipient of two Soul Train Music Awards. Join Alex and his swingin’ trio for an afternoon of smooth tunes and sultry melodies.   

SING, HARLEM, SING! GOSPEL/R&B BRUNCH, August 11, 18, 25 & September 1, 8, 15 AT 1PM

Sing, Harlem, Sing! created by Vy Higginsen and directed by Ken Wydro, comes to 54 Below with a soulful score filled with classic R&B, jazz, gospel and rock n’ roll hits from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Higginsen and Wydro, the creative team behind the award-winning 1983 gospel musical, Mama, I Want To Sing, Sing Harlem Sing! celebrates African-American music, urban radio, and the energy of one of the world’s most legendary neighborhoods.  Performances begin at 1PM Doors open at Noon.  $30 cover charge.  $25 food and beverage minimum or a $45 prefix menu including entrée, dessert, and unlimited coffee and mimosas.
