Mad Jenny's Weimar Girls returns as a monthly attraction at the Slipper Room. The 1930s satirical Weimar musical burlesque romp will have a monthly slot starting April 12.
Mad Jenny hosts this political and sexy female Weimar cabaret which she calls a "femme resistance" to "he who shall not be named" from then and now. With songs by Brecht, Spoliansky, Waldoff and other 1930s Weimar composers this cabaret also sneaks in some known and unknown 80s ditties to liven up the set.
The Society Band features Ric Becker on Trombone, Marty Isenberg on bass, Matthew Talmage on drums and sometimes Mad Jenny on clarinet, with piano, accordion and music direction by Maria Dessena.
Presenting stars of the downtown and around town burlesque and dance scene as well as other musical and specialty acts, Weimar Girls offers an old school variety show appeal set in a cabaret/vaudeville of the 1930s in Berlin. A milkmaid dance all the way from the Alps performed by Desert Sin as well as a fan dance by Pandora and contortion and arial talents by the mysterious Russian Miss Ekaterina are among the highlights.
All performances are on Wednesdays: April 12, May 17, June 14 and July 12 at 8pm. Tickets $12 online, $15 at the door. $25 VIP seating reservations at Slipperroom.com. Visit Weimar Girls for tickets and more information.
Donations to Planned Parenthood and The LGBT Bar Association will be accepted at the performances!
