MANN... AND WIFE, an "engaging" new musical, tells the story of Henry Mann, a starry-eyed 32-year-old writer who discovers that the love of his life has met someone new and is about to get married. What's worse, he has been invited to her wedding! What follows are Henry's frantic attempts to find a woman he can take as his date - a potential future wife - to prove to his ex-fiancée (and the world) that he too is ready to move on.
The Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma cast will reprise their roles at Feinstein's/54 Below, featuring Zachary Prince (Honeymoon in Vegas, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever) as Henry Mann, Liz Shivener (Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Nat'l Tour) as all the women in Henry's life, and Mateja Govich (Cabaret) as Glenn.
Based on the novel Nine Wives by Dan Elish, MANN... AND WIFE features music and lyrics by Douglas J. Cohen (Richard Rodgers, Noel Coward, Fred Ebb Award winner; writer of The Gig, No Way To Treat A Lady, Children's Letter's to God) with book and lyrics by Dan Elish (Broadway's 13).
Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma Artistic Director Michael Baron directs the evening. Musical direction is by James Dobinson (Clinton the Musical) with orchestrations by Neil Douglas Reilly (Rocky, Clinton the Musical). New York producers Larry Hirschhorn (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, On Your Feet) and Jayson Raitt (Murder for Two, Rock of Ages) have shepherded the development of MANN... AND WIFE, which is now available for licensing.
