The Tony nominated star of Mamma Mia!, Broadway's original Donna Sheriden, is back in New York for one show only. Dubbed "the first lady of Canadian theatre," Louise Pitre is fresh from her starring turn in Mame at the Goodspeed Opera House. Pitre presents La Vie en Rouge, an intimate revue of material from her favorite roles, including selections from Les Miserables and Mame. The show is set for January 7th at 54 Below.

Pitre perhaps is most famous for starring in a Broadway show featuring the songs of a Swedish pop group. That group, of course, was ABBA and the show they inspired, Mamma Mia!, served as a perfect showcase for Pitre's powerhouse vocals and tremendous stage presence. Watching her play the role of Donna Sheridan, audiences in New York quickly learned what audiences in Canada had known for years: She was a major talent.

Now, La Vie en Rouge allows Pitre, a native French speaker, to put her incomparable spin on the mainstays of the French songbook. Expect the classics, but expect some surprises, too. Besides interpreting the work of Edith Piaf and Jacques Brel, she might just sneak in a performance of the original French version of "The Winner Takes It All"! But no matter the song -- and no matter the language -- there is no mistaking Louise Pitre's incredible talent.

La Vie en Rouge will play January 7, 2013. Cover charge: $25 - $35. Food & Beverage Minimum $25. The show begins at 9:30pm (Doors 8:45pm). For tickets and more information, click HERE.
