Songwriters Ewalt & Walker and Drew Overcash introduce the talented students of New York Film Academy's musical theater to the legendary 54 Below in NYFA Sings Ewalt, Walker, and Overcash. NYFA's burgeoning musical theater department is ready to meet the city's cabaret scene and wow the crowds with the newest crop of undiscovered talent. After working with the students on new projects, Ewalt & Walker and Drew Overcash are excited to invite NYFA's young stars to join them onstage for a concert of work from some of their newest shows. Join us for a very unique evening at 54 Below, featuring Harvard grads performing songs written by Harvard grads in fierce competition with Yale grads performing songs written by Yalies! Likely showstoppers will include "Songs Unduly Influenced by Tom Lehrer," "Who You Got? We Got EGOT," and "Best School Song." Hard to say whose songs will make the finals, but Harvard's heavies include Leonard Bernstein, Alan Jay Lerner, and Tom Lehrer, while Yale has Cole Porter, Bobby Lopez, and Maury Yeston. This show is co-produced by Tom Toce (Yale, 1978) and Madeline A. Smith (Harvard, 2014), direct from their recent hit cabaret endeavor Mr. Victor's Cabaret for Hipsters: Songs of the 1990s. Tom will host and Madeline will be the musical director. Each promises to treat the opposing school's songs with respect. May the best songs win! Nicholas, born and raised in New York City, is a member of the talented Guest family, whose half-brother is the New York-based writer and humorist Anthony Haden-Guest. His brother Christopher Guest is a well-known actor-writer-director and the star of films including This is Spinal Tap. Nicholas, the son of an English diplomat stationed in New York at the U.N and a Jewish mother, finds that in the 1967 "Summer of Love" just as he is choosing a college, his family has been reassigned to Geneva, Switzerland, causing him to begin a journey abroad to find the person he is yet to be. Experience a concert evening populated by over 20 entertaining characters of all nationalities and genders that he encountered along his way, popular songs (in both English and French) from that period, and alarmingly humorous situations!
