Being simple isn't easy. It is a particular gift one has to give of ones self with simplicity and transparency, especially when it comes to the expression of music. For singer/songwriter Levi Kreis, it is a sweet spot - and it shows that a pensive piano hook, a soulful vocal, and an honest lyric still has the ability to cut through the noise of corporate music and find an impassioned audience. Fans of The Vampire Diaries discovered Levi during the season two finale when a haunting piano line framed the final moments between Damon and Elena. "I Should Go" was featured in its entirety, and new fans from across the world were twittering the chorus. "I should go...before my will gets any weaker, and my eyes begin to linger longer than they should. I should go...before I lose my sense of reason, and this hour holds more meaning than it ever could."
In addition to The Vampire Diaries, Levi's recordings have been featured on Sons of Anarchy, The Apprentice, Mob Wives, VH1, So You Think You Can Dance, Days Of Our Lives, Young and the Restless, and the film Kiss The Bride.
An East Tennessee native, Levi started playing piano by ear at age six. In high school, Levi received a full scholarship from Vanderbilt University for classical piano pre-college program. He started songwriting at age 12 and had his first top ten hit single at 21 years old - a song called "Timeless", released by Curb Records Christian group Selah. Levi's debut album One Of The Ones was self-released in 2005 followed by The Gospel According To Levi, Bygones, Where I Belong, Live @ Joe's Pub, and the Billboard Magazine featured Kickstarter success, Imagine Paradise.
Levi elaborates, "Being a one man business with 6 album releases, I've had the freedom to explore a lot of styles. What I've discovered is, if you listen, your fans will always guide you to where you belong. It feels good to settle into what my fans have known and loved all along - just me, a piano, and a story to tell."
Kreis is also an accomplished stage and film actor. He is a 2010 Tony Award winner, an Outer Critics Circle Award Winner, and a Drama League Award Nominee. Stage credits include Violet, Smokey Joe's Café, The Leading Men Of Broadway, Million Dollar Quartet, One Red Flower, and Rent. His film credits include Frailty, Don't Let Go, A Thousand Words, and Silencers.
