Dixon Place has announced that Lea DeLaria will headline the 22nd Annual HOT! Festival in a new show, The Loudest Show on Earth, for six performances in July. The often controversial performer will bring her mashup of vaudeville, Broadway, political rants, and extremely loud signature brand of performance to the downtown stage with her friend and collaborator, Maggie Cassella.
The raucous duo invite the audience to step inside their "conservative's nightmare" in this bawdy late night comedy event. Lea and Maggie met at Hartford Pride in 1988 and, because they're rageful, opinionated, Italian lesbian comics, they've been yelling at each other ever since. The duo's "exploration of the queer urban experience" will be angry, musical, funny and LOUD! The show will contain many FBombs so bring the kids!
The HOT! Festival runs July 2 - August 3 and is New York's original and longest running LGBTQ festival and has over 75 shows including theater, cabaret, dance, music, literature, and all degrees of performance. Shows run 6 nights a week in the Dixon Place theater and the cocktail lounge. For a full schedule of events, check www.hotfestival.org.
