Lauren Kennedy will celebrate her new CD 'Here and Now' at The Zipper Factory on May 18th at 8pm.
One of the busiest singers in the New York theatre scene, Lauren Kennedy remains passionate about the current generation of composers and lyricists shaping Broadway and popular song. Her first CD took on the Songs of Jason Robert Brown, for whom she had originated the role of Kathleen in The Last Five Years; it included arrangements and songs written especially for Kennedy by the songwriter himself. Her second album, Here and Now, featured the newest crop of songwriters shaping Broadway – including Georgia Stitt, David Kirshenbaum, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Matthew Sklar & Chad Begeulin, David Yazbek, Andrew Lippa, Adam Guettel, Joshua Salzman & Ryan Cunningham and Marcy Heisler & Zina Goldrich – in a thrilling pop-infused collection with arrangements tailored to Kennedy's dynamic delivery.
Lauren Kennedy most recently appeared on Broadway as The Lady of the Lake in the Tony Award-winning Monty Python's Spamalot. Kennedy also appeared as Nellie Forbush in Trevor Nunn's Royal National Theatre production of South Pacific, as well as the Broadway productions of Side Show and Sunset Boulevard. She originated the role of Kathleen in Jason Robert Brown's The Last Five Years at Northlight Theatre in Illinois.Videos
