Lauren Fox, whose highly praised Joni Mitchell-Leonard Cohen show was considered one of the most artistically ambitious cabaret debuts in years, continues to explore the music of the '60s and '70s in a new show, "Canyon Folkies," premiering at the Metropolitan Room, 34 West 22nd Street, on Thursday October 11 at 7pm. In a major engagement consisting of four shows through November 2, Fox reunites with music director Jon Weber on piano, Peter Calo on guitar and Ritt Henn on bass.

"Canyon Folkies: Over the Hills and Under the Covers" performs Thursday and Friday October 11 & 12 at 7pm; Friday October 26 at 9:30pm, and Friday November 2 at 7pm.

Fox's cabaret debut at the Metropolitan Room in February earned Fox both the MAC and Bistro Awards for best debut and was extended several times.

In "Canyon Folkies" Fox, an actress and entrepreneur (with her sister she owns the restaurant Alice's Tea Cup, explores what could arguably be called the epicenter '60s folk rock exploration and innovation – the bucolic stretch of hills called Laurel Canyon. The commune-like enclave above the Sunset Strip, which drew the likes Jackson Browne, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, The Byrds, The Mamas & the Papas, The Eagles, and Crosby, Stills & Nash, became a veritable folk-rock sonic factory.

Lauren Fox performs "Canyon Folkies: Over the Hills and Under the Covers" for a four show engagement running Thursday October 11 through Friday November 2. There is a $25 music charge and a two-drink minimum. For reservations, call the Metropolitan Room at 212/206-0440 or, to order online, visit www.metropolitanroom.com.
