Richard Pepenella presents Red Hot & New: A Songwriters' and Singers' Soiree, the newest weekly party to hit the theater and cabaret scene, at Ido Sushi in New York on Thursday, November 11th at 8:30PM.
  
This week we are proud to present the composer/lyricist team of Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk and our up and coming composer of the week David Levinson. Special guest vocalists Jenni Barber, Steven Booth, Matt Leisy, Nadine Malouf, and Marita Stryker
  
Red Hot & New where Manhattan's most acclaimed theater and cabaret composers and lyricists will share the spotlight with some of her newest up and coming songwriters. Feature some of their favorite singers as well as other special guests. Then you'd better bring your books because the microphone opens to the audience where songwriters and singers alike have the chance to perform their favorite songs until closing.

The evening is hosted by the comedic and eccentric chanteuse of the West Village piano bars and cabarets, Suzanne Pilzer. Accompanied this week by our guest pianist, the lovely and talented Kat Sherrell.

Our featured composer/lyricist team Kait Kerrigan & Brian Lowdermilk's adaptation of Henry & Mudge had an Off-Broadway run at the Lucille Lortel Theatre and is currently touring the country with TheatreworksUSA. Their latest original musical The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown was most recently developed at a workshop at Manhattan Theatre Club directed by Christopher Ashley. This musical also received a reading at the Artists' Showcase Reading Series at the 92nd Street Y, and was featured in the 2005 NAMT Songwriters Showcase.

They have collaborated on two other musicals: The Woman Upstairs and Wrong Number, both of which were featured in the New York Musical Theatre Festival. They are recipients of a 2006 Jonathan Larson Award and a 2004-2005 Jonathan Larson Fellowship at the Dramatists Guild, and they are members of the BMI Musical Theatre Advanced workshop, ASCAP and the Dramatists Guild.

Kerrigan is a graduate of Barnard College. Her plays include Transit and Imaginary Love, which was a 2006 Princess Grace Award Finalist. Lowdermilk studied at Harvard University and NYU where he received the Alan Menken Award. With collaborator Marcus Stevens, Lowdermilk was the recipient of a Richard Rodgers Award for his musical RED. More at kerrigan-lowdermilk.com

Our second guest, David Levinson has written both music and lyrics for finished shows Báthory which is gearing up for a benefit reading in March, and Our Lady of Paris which just had its first reading last month, directed by Donna Drake and Music Directed by Mark Hartman.  David is also currently working on music and lyrics for Loose Curls, and Who Is Prester John?  Film and Theater scoring include The Missing Piece (Leila Manion dir.),The Boy Who Wanted To Be A Robot (written by Edward Einhorn, produced by Evolve co.).  He has been music director for Aida, Cabaret, Infancy.  Performed at The Music and Lyrics of David Levinson (Laurie Beechman Theater) and has been a special guest at The After Party (The Laurie Beechman Theater). Education includes Fordham at Lincoln Center, Manhattan School of Music Professional Musical Theater Workshop, New York City Opera Workshop.
