On May 5th, Katie Thompson (Giant, "So You Think You Can Dance"), Hannah Elless (Godspell, Somewhere in Time, The Other Josh Cohen), Cedric Neal (After Midnight, Porgy and Bess), Blake Whyte (Mamma Mia!, Wicked), Patrick Newton (Blue Man Group), and Isaac Woofter (War Horse) will star in the premiere New York presentation of The Moon and the Sea, a new musical by Creighton Irons.

The 7pm concert reading, which will be presented at The Cutting Room in Manhattan, is directed by David Alpert (If/Then, The Trip to Bountiful, The Best Man) with musical direction by Mike Pettry (Light Princess, Hardcore West Virginia), and produced by Steve Sielatycki and Shoshana Feinstein (Don't Quit Your Night Job, Reefer Madness in Concert). The concert will be presented with a four-piece band comprised of Seth Barden (bass), Jeff Fowler (guitar), Damian Bassman (drums), and Mike Pettry (piano).

CREIGHTON IRONS is a musical theater writer hailing from North Carolina. Other recent projects as a composer/lyricist include Factory Girls (with co-composer Sean Mahoney and bookwriters Rob Ackerman and Sam Forman) and Staying Wild (book by Janet Allard) and Homefront (book by Craig Slaight), commissioned by ACT in San Francisco. He is a teaching artist with the Roundabout, the Shakespeare Society, and the Hunts Point Alliance for Children.

A group of friends playing music on the shore witness the moon and the sea collide, crashing and rolling together in bright silver waves. Is it love? A dream? Could there be another explanation for this cataclysmic event? When they reunite on the beach years later, they find the answers in unexpected places.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 day of the show with a $20 food/drink minimum and can be purchased at thecuttingroomnyc.com. The Cutting Room is located at 44. E 32nd Street.
