Katie Drinkard, Kim Wigaard Johansen, Michael Kushner, and Ariella Serur headline Chairs, a new song cycle by Josh Kight.
Join composer and lyricist Josh Kight as he presents the New York premiere of his song cycle, "Chairs." Chairs tells the stories of our human nature, represented through the eyes of 4 actors portraying various stages of life and how encounters with the most unassuming of objects - chairs - can be the moments that change a life. This free performance will take place on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 2:00 pm, at The Shop in Cap2, 18 W. 18th St. (Between 5th and 6th Ave.)
Music Directed by Josh Kight, singers will include Ariella Serur, Katie Drinkard, Michael Kushner, and Kim Wigaard Johansen. This concert is made possible in part with support from multiple donors through the crowdsourcing website, GoFundMe, along with support from the Anna Sosenko Foundation. The show is free and open to the public, but seating is extremely limited.
Josh Kight is a composer, lyricist, playwright, pianist, and singer. He has written three musicals, (Above the Beanstalk, Pity, and Chairs) and has written one play. (Not Much Left) His work has been performed through American Opera Projects, Lauren Flanigan's "Music and Mentoring House", the University of Evansville, and by Tales and Scales, Inc., a traveling children's theatre troupe based in Evansville, Indiana.You can visit his website at joshkight.org.
