AHRENS & FLAHERTY, May 12 at 7PM & 9:30PM:

Last fall, the Tony Award-winning songwriting team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Rocky, Ragtime, Once on This Island, My Favorite Year, Lucky Stiff..., the list goes on...) celebrated an amazing thirty years of collaboration in the musical theater with six sold-out performances at 54 Below. Now, they're back in the ring with two not-to-be-missed encore performances, to celebrate the release of the 2 CD set of that event. Drawing from their vast body of work, a changeable feast of Broadway stars perform the team's best-known songs, as well as lesser-known gems, cut songs and numbers from current and upcoming shows. And who knows - Lynn and Stephen may even be cajoled into getting onstage once again. CDs will be available at both shows, with a signing following the second show at 11pm. Featuring during the 7pm show: Stephanie J. MARILYN MAYE, May 13 at 7PM:

Johnny Carson knew and featured great singers, including one he called "Super Singer" - - The multi-talented Marvelous Marilyn Maye. Ms. Maye appeared on The Tonight Show a record 76 times, more than any singer. Her newest show at 54 Below will be both a musical salute and a compilation of many of the songs Marilyn performed on The Tonight Show. As Johnny said, "If there are any young budding singers out there, get her recordings, listen to her- she knows how it's done!" $45-55 cover charge. $25 food & beverage minimum.

PETER, PAUL & MARY: THE SONG IS LOVE, May 13 at 9:30PM:

Relive the timeless music of Peter Yarrow, Paul Stookey and Mary Travers in this one-night-only concert event. Peter, Paul & Mary's years together were spent communicating personal, political and social imperatives by way of their impeccably chosen songs, personally crafted harmonies, humor and passion. Join Broadway singer-actors and recording artists Michael Lanning (The Civil War, Bonnie & Clyde), Alison Lory (The Scarlet Pimpernel, Carnegie Hall), and Sam Sherwood (Bernstein: A Celebration, Carnegie Hall) singing the lyrics of such latter-day poets as Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan and John Denver, and in songs penned by the group itself including a canon of classics like "Blowin' in the Wind," "If I Had a Hammer," "Leaving on a Jet Plane," and "Puff (The Magic Dragon)." $25-35 cover charge. $25 food & beverage minimum.

MARK NADLER, May 14 at 7PM:

Award-winning entertainer Mark Nadler takes you on a tour of the sex, booze, drugs & even murder from the wildest decade of the 20th century. HATCHED: PACE UNIVERSITY, May 14 at 9:30PM & 11:30PM:

For those craving a night of innovative and off-beat musical theater with no shortage of drinks and a lively crowd, Pace University and Ryan Scott Oliver present an evening of songs from hot, new musicals-all written, performed and directed by freshmen from Pace University's BFA Musical Theater program. This time join the singing chanteuse as she and her trusty back up singers take you "Around the World in 80 Ways with Vodka Stinger and The Martha Rayes." Tony Award nominee Jarrod Spector, who is starring in the new Broadway hit Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, returns to 54 Below to celebrate his brand new album A Little Help >From My Friends: Live at 54 BELOW! This acclaimed musical outing traces the legacy of the great male singers whose vocal prowess made them the rock stars of their generations, even before rock was born. After starring as Frankie Valli for six years in Broadway's smash hit musical Jersey Boys, Jarrod wraps his critically-praised voice around the songs that have made superstars out of more than a century of tenor legends from Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson to the great Enrico Caruso himself. DEPLOYED: A NEW MUSICAL IN CONCERT, May 17 at 11PM:

An evening of songs from the new musical Deployed by BMI Workshop composer/lyricist and former army spouse Natalie Lovejoy that features a cast of musical theater performers and real veterans. Proceeds from the performance will be donated to The Soldiers Project, a non-profit organization that offers free and confidential counseling to veterans and their families. Deployed follows a young U.S. Army infantry private and his unit's year-long deployment in Iraq and the subsequent battles they face after returning home. "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'!" The time has come for 54 Below to salute the two men who paved the way for modern musical theatre with hit after hit, including The Sound of Music, South Pacific, Carousel, Oklahoma!, The King & I and Flower Drum Song, among others. Not only are tunes such as "Hello, Young Lovers," "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair," "If I Loved You" and "Edelweiss" part of the lexicon of popular music, the indelible stamp they left on Broadway redefined the American musical. Join us as, each month, we present four of Broadway's most intriguing voices singing their favorite R&H tunes, with musical direction by the extraordinary Andy Einhorn (Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella). SUSIE MOSHER IN THE GREAT DAISY THEORY, May 18 at 9:30PM:

The hilarious Susie Mosher (Hairspray, NEWSical) returns to 54 Below to perform her critically acclaimed solo show! The Great Daisy Theory is a high-energy musical memoir about Mosher growing up in suburban California, bouncing between divorced parents. Bearing witness to her mother's alcoholism and her father's immersion in the hippie movement, she finds her escape in musical theater, and dreams of life upon the Broadway stage. With music ranging from James Taylor to Coldplay, Camelot to Jesus Christ Superstar, Mosher tells her personal tale with rare candor, highlighted by her off-the-wall humor and heartfelt emotion.
