The Meeting* is a hit monthly comedy/variety show for homosexuals and their friends. A "gay" romp through politics, sexual and otherwise, social news, music, skits, and other important life-changing information. Produced by Adam J. Rosen and Robby Sandler, The Meeting* returns to The Duplex Cabaret Theatre on September 16th at 9:30 pm with writer/host Justin Sayre. Past "agenda items" have included the continuing romantic saga of gay penguins at the San Francisco Zoo, a nativity play celebrating the birth of Quentin Crisp, a guide to the so-called "gay panic" defense, and musical numbers with Poor Baby Bree and The Gay Agenda. The most recent edition of The Meeting* was a benefit for The Ali Forney Center, featuring a star-studded cast including Kenny Mellman, Bridget Everett, Murray Hill, Jeffery Self, and Cole Escola. The September show will feature special guest star Molly Pope and a tribute to Miss Piggy.

The Meeting* operates under the myth of the "gay agenda" and is structured as any organizational meeting for homosexuals would be, where business of the day, upcoming events and social issues are discussed, ridiculed, and interwoven between comedy sketches, musical numbers, and other "homo-hijinks." Host Justin Sayre says, "I wanted a show where we could have a good laugh at ourselves, while getting some information out there. The Internet is great and easy to create a virtual community, but I think so much more is done one on one and with laughter." Audience response has been ecstatic.

From an early age, Justin Sayre demonstrated a supernatural instinct for "camp," an ability that shines throughout The Meeting*. Justin is a child of Forty Fort, PA, who moved to New York believing it was still 1947. He was terribly misinformed. In 2006, Justin received rave reviews for his cabaret, "Without A Song." As an actor, he has worked and studied with some of the finest professionals in New York. As a gay, Justin has excelled at scarf placement, Judy hands, and a healthy but firm love of the American musical.

In the fall of 2007, Molly Pope hurled herself into the New York cabaret scene with her critically-acclaimed debut show, "The Diva-lution of Molly Pope" (Time Out New York's 10 Best Cabarets of 2008). She is a frequent performer at Joe's Pub, starring in "The Molly Pope Show" and regularly featured in "Our Hit Parade." Molly is a member of Dreamscape Theater and The Dorothy Parker Society.

The Meeting* occurs at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre, located at 61 Christopher Street at 7th Ave, New York, NY 10014, 9/16/10 at 9:30 pm. There is a $10 cover charge and a two-drink minimum. You must be 21+ years of age to attend. For reservations, please visit www.theduplex.com. For more information visit facebook.com/TheMeetingWink.
