Jorge Luiz Altamirano is bringing his Gershwin revue, "An American Folksong in London," to The Metropolitan Room on February 17, 2017.
Altamirano studied Vocal Performance at the University of Arizona where he was awarded a full Academic Scholarship for Excellence at the age of 17. He has performed internationally in Mexico and London, England as well as throughout the southwest region including Arizona, California, New Mexico and Colorado. Most recently Jorge has performed cabaret shows to packed houses in New York City.
Jorge will be performing his new show "An American Folksong in London" while making his Metropolitan Room debut and will cover crowd favorites from Jazz Standards, The American Songbook, Broadway and Opera, all composed by one of America's most beloved composers, George Gershwin!
The show follows Jorge on his European Debut where he performed in the musical review "The Magic of Gershwin" with the company of Theatre West Four in London, England. The program will include hits from Ladies First (1918), Memi-Tasse (1919), Sinbad (1920), Oh, Kay! (1926), Girl Crazy (1930), Porgy and Bess (1934), A Damsel in Distress (1937), The Goldwyn Follies, (1937), Shall We Dance (1937), A Star Is Born (1954) and Crazy for You (1992).
