His Fast Jump CD was produced by Mike Garson (pianist for David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, etc.) and was a featured new release on both WNYC and iTunes in 2009. A passionate advocate for new music, Holt has worked with such composers as Steve Reich, Louis Andriessen, David Lang, and Michael Gordon, and he has been a fellow at the Weill Music Institute at Carnegie Hall and the Bang on a Can Summer Music Institute. In Los Angeles he performs with the L.A. Philharmonic, Jacaranda, The California EAR Unit and other contemporary music ensembles. CYRO BAPTISTA'S BANQUET OF THE SPIRITS
Tuesday, February 2 at 7:30 PM
Banquet of the Spirits features the tight quartet led by maestro Cyro Baptista-the percussionist who has performed with everyone from Herbie Hancock and Yo-Yo Ma to Laurie Anderson, John Zorn, Paul Simon, Sting, Medeski Martin and Wood, Trey Anastasio and so many more. Cyro's endless sonic curiosity and intense rhythmic drive has never been stronger in these imaginative original songs. Featuring three of the best young musicians out of the downtown scene and some very special guests, the music jumps from a whisper to a scream and never misses a beat.
The quartet embodies the philosophy of Anthropofagia, a Brazilian cultural movement from the 1920's. The band, is a musical manifestation of the process of eating, swallowing, and digesting all the tendencies that are part of the sonic landscape and our environment. The music is the product of all sounds that they have collectively consumed over the years; some of them they've digested and others they have rejected. After that, it has been difficult to identify what belongs to what country, culture, or religion. $15

WE SING BABY DEE! #3!
Thursday, February 4 at 7:00 PM
Composer Sxip Shirey is a huge fan and friend of the artist Baby Dee, believing her to have written some of the most beautiful and important songs that have not yet made it into the classic American song book.
Sxip gathers together some of his and Dee's favorite New York City artists to interpret her songs. Also included is a special guest appearance by 9 year old singer Franky Lou Hightower from Kansas City and a brief song or three from Baby Dee herself.
Also featuring Andrew W. K., Corn Mo, Paul Wallfisch, Curtis Eller, Aimee Curl, Phillip Raya and Lila.
Once upon a time, during a much wilder and wooly, NYC, Baby Dee cruised around the west village on a giant tricycle with a full-sized concert harp, an accordion, angel wings and cat ears, singing funny songs about Rudolph Giuliani and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. She also spent ten years as an organist for a Catholic church in the Bronx before joining the circus. Now she travels all over the world singing her very funny and heartbreaking songs. $15
