MAGIC IN THE PARK
Sundays, May 2, 16, & 23 at NOON
Magic in the Park is a magical journey and entertainment showcase that pays homage to the late Dr. Abraham B. Hurwitz, New York City's "Official Magician". Continuing in the tradition of his legendary "Peter Pan the Magic Man" shows, Magic in the Park features magic acts, mentalism, juggling, ventriloquism, puppetry, music, and much more.
The New York Times, in 1981, wrote that Hurwitz "entertained more than a million young people" at free performances in New York City's schools, parks, recreation centers and playgrounds.
Bring the family, your sense of history, and join this elite group of participants as Magic in the Park dazzles you for 70 minutes with the likes of Abe's grand-daughter, Emmy Award winner Mallory Lewis with Lamb Chop, The Magicomedian and "Dean of American Magicians" George Schindler, Funny Guy Robert Baxt, Ventriloquism extraordinaire Carla Rhodes, rising stars from the Society of Young Magicians and our amusing Emcee, "Cajun Cellist" Sean Grissom.

THE BREITHAUPT BROTHERS SONGBOOK W/ SPECIAL GUESTS
Monday May 3 at 7:00 PM
"Seemingly from the golden age!" - All About Jazz
"In the world of fraternal songwriting teams, America may have had the Gershwins- George and Ira - but Canada's got the Breithaupts." - Richard Ouzounian, The Toronto Star
"Don Breithaupt's music and Jeff Breithaupt's lyrics are incredibly polished and sophisticated...the work here is cut from an older mold, with songs and characterizations more reminiscent of Porter and Hammerstein than Altar Boyz..." - nytheatre.com
"[Seeing Stars is] a lighthearted throwback to the golden age of tuners..." - Backstage
"One of the most interesting songwriting duos on the scene today." - The Toronto Star
Don and Jeff Breithaupt, the composer and lyricist (respectively) that comprise the Breithaupt Brothers, bring their ever-evolving songbook back to Joe's Pub for another all-star revue, featuring a bumper crop of new songs and favorites, a sparkling house band, and a still-evolving line-up that -- so far -- includes Lea DeLaria, Kate Baldwin, Kevin Earley, Carolyn Leonhart, Graham Rowat, Jamie Leonhart, Rikki Rumball, and Shelley McPherson. For further line-up announcements, please check back here in coming days. Past performers of the Breithaupt Brothers' material include Tony Award-winners James Naughton and LaChanze, multiple Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara, Norm Lewis, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Catherine Russell, Denzal Sinclaire, Rebecca Martin, Adam Brazier, BETTY, Sarah Slean, Patricia O'Callaghan, and Grammy nominee Kate McGarry, among many others. Don was honored with a 2009 Emmy Award for outstanding theme song for the Canadian television show 6teen (Cartoon Network). The Breithaupt Brothers wrote the songs for Seeing Stars, an original boxing musical, which was read in February 2009 as part of the York Theatre's Development Reading Series and enjoyed a sold-out run in October 2009 as one of 12 double blind-juried "Next Link" shows at the New York Musical Theater Festival. In January 2010, the Breithaupt Brothers debut recording, Toronto Sings the Breithaupt Brothers Songbook, was released. $25
