"...like a bizarre cross between Radiohead, Robert Wyatt, The Bad Plus and Nico", guitarist/composer Chris Parrello brings some of NYC's very finest musicians to his thoughtful compositions - artfully bridging modern jazz and the popular song with high energy and the best of intensions. A unique set of songs, featuring Karlie Bruce, Ian Young, Kevin Thomas, Aviv Cohen, and Rubin Kodheli. www.chrisparrello.com & soundcloud.com/chris-parrello
Vocalist, guitarist, and self-proclaimed "song seeker" John Shannon searches for his words and music in nature, at times embarking on vision quests in the middle of the desert to find his songs "in the winds and sunrise," much like an astronomer searches for new planets in the sky. Having played guitar for such artists as Sonya Kitchell (Velour/Hear Music), Gary Go (Decca/Universal) and Haale (Music and Art), Shannon is a sympathetic and quietly captivating accompanist. As a singer/songwriter and frontman, his "found" songs are the focal point of an all-encompassing journey into a multi-dimensional psyche and wide-open heart. Fresh yet respective of tradition, Shannon leaves the listener with a sense of deeper meaning. http://www.johnshannonmusic.com

Wednesday, January 26 at 7:00 PM; $25
"When it comes to complete and utterly wonderful depravity, few have ever dropped their drawers, exposed every orifice and let out a lustful holler with as much panache as Miss Tammy Faye Starlite, whose self-released EP, On My Knees, sets a new standard for countrified carnality." - Robert Baird, Magnet
"Carlene Carter ... fluctuates between the sassy country-rock of her past and reflective acoustic-country tunes about her present." - Associated
Daughter of the legendary June Carter Cash and Country Music Hall-of-Famer Carl Smith, and stepdaughter of the enduring Johnny Cash, Carlene Carter is heir to one of the richest musical legacies of all time. The Grammy-nominated Carter freely straddles the line between rock and country, and enjoys broad appeal across both genres. http://www.carlenecarter.us

Our Hit Parade is a live top-ten countdown show created by Tony nominee and Obie winner Kenny Mellman (Kiki & Herb), carnal chanteuse Bridget Everett (At Least It's Pink at Ars Nova), pop song opera impresario Neal Medlyn (Neal Medlyn's Unpronounceable Symbol at P.S. 122), producer and MTV cameraman Brendan Kennedy, and writers Ada Calhoun and Peter Schjeldahl. On that show, cast members performed the week's most popular songs as comically literal skits. In this show, the hosts and special guest stars from the local performance scene present their renditions of current popular hits live on stage!
