Joe Gulla's "Daddy" will play Joe's Pub at The Public Theater this Monday, October 29th.
"DADDY" is the final chapter of Gulla's multi-award-winning, "Bronx Queen Trilogy". Written and performed by Gulla, "DADDY" is the winner of Theatre Row's United Solo Award for Most Popular Show and Best Comedy.
Gulla says, "Believe me, I love that my audiences laugh... and laugh a lot! The scary part is: I'm sharing stories that are true! Every sentence. Every word. I'm extremely transparent about my youth and its various obstacles. It was a funny day when I learned that my honest autobiographical play was been awarded 'Best Comedy'. Talk about perspective! Ha!"
"Daddy" chronicles the playwright/actor's life from his early twenties living in Manhattan to his years living in Ibiza, Spain and Rome, Italy. As always, Joe weaves in stories from his days growing up as a gay Bronx Italian.
"Woman Around Town" commented on Gulla's work: "Outbursts of laughter for which television sitcoms would kill are bridged by stillness evoked by moving dialogue."
Mark Dundas Wood of BistroAwards.com said of the playwright "his performances succeed largely because Gulla comes off as such a warm and wise storyteller, brimming with good will and honest reflection."
"DADDY" will be performed at Joe's Pub on Monday, October 29th at 9:30. Tickets are $20.00 and available at The Public's Box Office (425 Lafayette, NYC). For more information, visit www.JoeGulla.com or https://bit.ly/2R73Kj4.
