Joan Rivers, one of America's great comedy talents, brings her one woman show to the Castro Theatre, 429 Castro St., SF, on Friday, May 15. There is one show only, at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $35-$75 and can be purchased at www.therrazzroom.com or directly through www.cityboxoffice.com or 415 392 1400. Singer Linda Clifford will also perform.

Joan Rivers is a force of nature-and one of the hardest working celebrities in the world- comedienne, best-selling author, Tony-nominated actress, playwright, screenwriter, motion picture director, columnist, lecturer, syndicated radio host, Emmy Award-winning television talk-show host, jewelry designer, red-carpet fashion laureate, businesswoman and, most importantly to her, mother and grandmother.
Joan created her own brand of irreverent, unconventional comedy to forge her remarkable rise to stardom in the entertainment world. Enduring humiliation and privation for nearly a decade playing tawdry clubs, Borscht Belt hotels, and Greenwich Village cabarets, Joan's career skyrocketed in 1965 when she appeared on "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson. A few years later, she became the first solo guest host of "The Tonight Show." She then hosted "The Joan Rivers Show," winning an Emmy for Outstanding Talk Show Host-and her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Recently she has been appearing in "Celebrity Apprentice." From her signature question, "Can we talk?" (officially a Federal trademark), to her red-carpet mantra, "Who are you wearing?", Joan Rivers keeps them laughing.

Linda Clifford ranks among the best classic soul singers as well as being a legendary Disco Diva. Linda created such classics as "If My Friends Could See Me Now", "Red Light" (from the movie Fame), "Shoot Your Best Shot" and "Runaway Love." She has earned Grammy and American Music Award nominations, gold records and over 25 hit singles on the Dance, R&B and Pop charts, including six #1 songs. Linda was the first African American to ever be crowned Miss New York in the Miss America pageant
