Jesse was recently ended the Broadway run of MOTOWN THE MUSICAL as Smokey Robinson. Other Broadway credits include MAMMA MIA, and the original Broadway companies of MARY POPPINS, GOOD VIBRATIONS, and SCANDALOUS. Jesse has sung with Mariah Carey and Shania Twain at Madison Square Garden, Jason Mraz at Radio City Music Hall, as well as events with Patti LaBelle, Joe Pesci, The Jacksons, and Smokey Robinson himself. Jesse can be heard on both seasons of NBC's "Smash" as well as the "Hairspray" movie soundtrack. Jesse is the Artistic Director of The Broadway Boys, a collection of singers who rearrange traditional musical theater with elements of pop/funk/gospel. B.FA. in Musical Theater from University of Michigan and a certificate in Vocal Performance from LaGuardia H.S of the Performing Arts, the school FAME was based on.
DUETS with The Write Teacher(s) is set for April 22 at Feinstein's/54 Below at 9:30pm. Conceived, directed, produced by Megan Minutillo (in association with thewriteteachers.com), the evening will feature music from across the musical theatre canon, pairing one Broadway hopeful with one performing arts professional who has inspired them in their show business career, and featuring songs from shows that sparked the creative journey's of these Hopefuls!
Jesse Nager joins a cast that features Shaunice Alexander, Kathryn Allison (Aladdin), Haley Boyd, Siri Howard (Les Miserables, The Sound of Music), Joaquina Kalukango (The Color Purple, Godspell, Holler If You Hear Me), Kate Loprest (First Date, Hairspray, Xanadu), Sydney Morton (American Pyscho, Evita), Stephanie Turci, Natalie Vero and Natalie Weiss (Everyday Rapture, Breaking Down the Riffs) onstage, with additional casting soon to be announced. Dan Mertzlufft music directs.
