Martha will close out this busy year with three different shows at the new room, "Cafe Noctambulo," Wednesday, Nov 4th & 18th and Dec 2nd @ 8:00 pm.
Joining Martha are guitarist
Sean Harkness and bassist
Saadi Zain, with several special guests to be announced.
Martha Lorin was raised to be a singer and has pursued a career in jazz as a singer/lyricist/songwriter ever since. She followed her grandmother and mother, Sarah and Margaret Dalton, into this profession as a singer of jazz with such passion that her career took off. Martha's singing debut was at San Francisco's' Hungry I. Her career gained speed and she received a reputation for working with the best musicians in the business!
Her debut LP "The Best is Yet to Come" produced by Henry Lewi (
Joni Mitchell) featured jazz icons Pee Wee Ellis,
Larry Klein,
Mark Isham, besides others. With this first project, Martha performed throughout the US, Asia and Europe.
Martha's other recordings include "A Celebration of Ella" with the late
Paul Smith, "Come Walk With Me" featuring saxophone great Von Freeman, percussionist Leon Joyce, the late jazz icon Johnny Frigo on violin (who wrote the beautiful poem about Martha in the liner notes), bassist Eddie DeHass and bassist
Larry Grey.
"Blues Over Broadway" her collaboration with the great pianist Russ Kassoff, is a set arranged by Russ especially for Martha, with bassist Larry Gray, percussionist Leon Joyce and guitarist Curtis Robinson.
Martha even has an unreleased project (like many other recording artists) featuring songs of the patriotic genre, produced by
Charles Osgood of CBS fame. Those recordings feature Martha with
Ted Firth, Bucky and
John Pizzarelli. Look for her recordings at
iTunes.com,
Amazon.com and

Reviews:
Award-winning vocalist
Martha Lorin never fails to delight with powerful and compelling renditions of Ellington, Strayhorn and other jazz greats. One of the highlights of the evening was Lorin's "I Let a Song Go out Of My Heart", sung acappella with a drum intro, and her heartfelt "I'm Just a Lucky So and So". Kudos go out to the accomplished musicians in the quintet:
Ray Gallon - piano, Harvie S - bass,
Steve Williams - drums,
Sean Harkness - guitar and Mark Lopeman - reeds.
Everyone in the audience got the benefit of great talent....
Linda Fields...TV Producer and journalist.
Put one extraordinary Jazz singer together with two masters of the guitar, add a set of lovely, eclectic tunes, and watch magic happen.
Martha Lorin,
Sean Harkness and Sheryl Bailey, proved the exploration of this seldom-heard musical combination yields some mighty innovative and exciting results... more, please...
