FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed 'Best of New York' by New York Magazine continues its all-star Summer 2010 season by presenting award-winning film/television/theatre personality Janet Carroll in WHERE HAVE I BEEN ALL YOUR LIFE, under the musical direction of Jason Howland. Classically trained in every area of performance art, Janet adeptly sings everything from jazz to Broadway, to opera to gospel, and has been given rave reviews by fans and critics alike for her one-woman concerts and cabaret appearances. The set list for WHERE HAVE I BEEN ALL YOUR LIFE will include such numbers as "Lady Be Good" (the title of her new CD), "Sky Lark," "I Love Paris," "Taking A Chance on Love," as well as a Broadway medley.
She performs at Jazz Festivals throughout the United States and Canada, as well as many performing art centers. The San Francisco Chronicle named her the "Best Entertainer at the Sacramento Jazz Festival, saying "She tore the joint down!" Janet was the recipient of the "Best Vocalist Award" from the Redding Jazz Festival, and has released four vocal jazz albums, the most recent -- LADY BE GOOD -- is available at ArborsRecords.com.
Her most recent Broadway appearance was starring opposite Sutton Foster and Maureen McGovern in 'Little Women." She has had leading roles in legitimate and musical theatre including "Mame," "Gypsy," "Hello Dolly," "Guys and Dolls," "My Fair Lady," "Funny Girl," and "Sound of Music." She appeared in eight major musicals every summer for five years at the legendary Kansas City Starlight Theatre. Janet's first feature film is the role for which she'll always be remembered -- playing Tom Cruise's mother in the classic Ricky Business. Other films include Family Business, The Killing Time, Talent for the Game, Forces of Nature and the soon-to-be-released My Guaranteed Student Loan and You Can't Have It All with Wendie Malick. For ten years she recurred simultaneously on "Murphy Brown," "Melrose Place," "Married With Children," "Frank Leaves for the Orient," "Bronx Zoo," "Time of your Life" and the CBS hit series "Still Standing." As a series regular she was seen on "The Bonnie Hunt Show" as the dreaded Diane Fulton.
Janet served on the Executive Board of Directors of the Society of Singers as VP of Development. This organization provides emergency aid to professional singers worldwide, as well as monetary scholarships to deserving vocal students at various colleges and universities. A percentage of the sale of every one of her CDs goes to SOS.
FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS RECENCY will present Janet Carroll on Wednesday/Thursday, July 28th and 29th, at 8:30pm. There will be no late shows for this engagement. All shows have a $25.00 cover with $40 premium seats available,and an additional $25.00 food and beverage minimum. Jackets are suggested but not required.
