Since "Black Skin, Blue Eyed Boys" through "Living on the Frontline", Eddy Grant has been recognised as a vociferous promoter, through socio-political commentary, of the culture and achievements of contemporary black people. The 1980's was enormously successful for Eddy Grant; in less than four years he enjoyed eight major international hit singles, including the US #1 - "Electric Avenue", "I Don't Wanna Dance" and "Romancing the Stone". The Clash featured a cover of "Police On My Back" for their Sandinista triple-set, and "Gimme Hope Jo'hanna", which gave Eddy Grant a hit in 1988, was a very thinly veiled attack on the Apartheid regime in South Africa. As his solo career took off, Eddy Grant moved to Barbados and set up the Blue Wave studio. He continued to release tracks by classic calypso and soca artists on his label Ice Records, as well as 'Ringbang' a genre of Caribbean music he created. Continuing to produce his own material Eddy Grant is as active and relevant as ever.

ANTHONY DAVID

Anthony David is half bluesman, half soul singer, but he was actually raised on hip-hop. After serving with the 82nd Airborne, the Desert Storm veteran picked up the guitar for the first time at age twenty-one, when he landed in Atlanta following his Army stint. At the same time, he met India.Arie, who has become a friend and a musical cohort. After her Acoustic Soul album -- which includes "A Part of My Life," written by David -- went double platinum and garnered seven Grammy nominations, he followed her on tour, released two independent albums of his own, and then became the first artist signed to Arie's new label, Soulbird (under Universal Republic). Acey Ducey, his first album for that label.

Since the release of their debut album, Outskirts, in March 1987, Blue Rodeo has established themselves as one of the premiere bands in Canadian music history. Their 11th studio album Small Miracles was released in the fall of 2007 on Warner Music in Canada and TeleSoul Records in the US. Over the course of their stellar career Blue Rodeo has released 11 studio albums, one live album, a Greatest Hits collection and an award winning DVD, selling in excess of 4 million copies around the world.
Toronto's cosmic cowboys The Sadies, consisting of brothers Dallas and Travis Good, drummer Mike Belitsky and upright bassist Sean Dean, have been quietly building a reputation since their debut release in 1998. The band manages to juggle a heavy tour schedule while releasing critically acclaimed albums and making believers out of anyone who's witnessed one of their mind-blowing live shows. The Sadies' current album New Seasons was released in the fall of 2007 on Outside Music in Canada and Yep Roc for the rest of the world.

Erik Schrody (born August 18, 1969 in Valley Stream, New York), better known by his stage name Everlast, is an Irish-American rapper and singer-songwriter, best known for his hit "What It's Like", and for his genre-crossing mix of rap and acoustic-based rock music. He was the frontman for rap group House of Pain until 1996. In 2000, he won a Grammy for best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal with latin rock musician Carlos Santana performing Put Your Lights On on Santana's 1999 album Supernatural.

New Show Added:  Friday, October 3
U-MELT
- PSYLAB
Presented by CEG
File Under:  Jamband, Electronic
NB:  SRO
Doors at 7:00pm, Show at 9:00pm
$14 adv, $16 at door
Although U-Melt can fall into the jamband genre, to sum them up so succinctly oversimplifies their complexity. By design, U-Melt transcends the jamband label. A wise fan knows to expect the unexpected at their shows. From the moment the New York City based quartet hits the stage, they grab the crowd with undeniably funky and infectious grooves that hit new levels when Rob Salzer's mind-bending guitar work and Zac Lasher's hypnotic, entrancing keyboards are given room to roam. Their improvisational work is made possible by Adam Bendy's innovative bass work and George Miller's brilliant drumming, which opens doors for Lasher and Salzer to treat the audience to heavy doses of their creative, free-flowing interplay.

Show Cancelled:  Thursday, October 16
KING BRITT presents Sylk130 Final Live Tour with URSULA RUCKER

TIM REYNOLDS and TR3
File Under:  Rock, Jam Band
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm,
$15 adv, $17 at door
Tim Reynolds has been playing music all of his life. Starting as a bass player in a gospel band in his hometown of St. Louis to his break through band in the 80's TR3 and forward to recording with and touring with the Dave Matthews Band and the Dave Matthews Tim Reynolds Acoustic Duo. Tim's progression has continued through his last 8 years on the road as a solo acoustic guitar wizard playing for packed houses. Tim has spent the last 8 years living in New Mexico but after a sudden move to the Outer Banks of North Carolina in 2007 Tim ran across two players that would eventually form this new version of TR3. Mick Vaughn will be on bass. Mick moved to the Outer Banks in 1995 after many years playing in Chicago with Scott Bennett and opening for such bands as Jimmy Cliff and Dave Mason. Mick has been playing locally for several years until he ran into Tim this past summer. Drummer Dan Martier grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and spent most of the 80's in various bands playing the club scene 6 nights a week. After teaming up with his wife and powerful soul singer Laura they formed Express in Florida and toured heavily until being drawn to the Outer Banks in 1989 where he has remained an active player on the local scene. After a chance meeting of the three talented players, a few rehearsals and several stealth appearances around the North Carolina shore Tim realized it was time to get back to the basics…rockin out the way only Tim can.
