Cabaret patroness Madame Mathieu has selected Heather Manley (Aladdin) and CJ Eldred (The Book of Mormon) as guests of honor at the March edition of the Bistro Awards Critics' Pick Madame's Soiree. The Broadway duo will be joined on the program by a distinguished group of emerging artists from a variety of disciplines. Artistic directors Drew Fornarola (STRAIGHT, VeggieTales) and Tyler Spicer (Pharmabro) are also pleased to announce that tickets for the series will now be free with a reservation, as the company moves to a donation-based model for its programming. The venue's two drink minimum still applies.
The Soiree will be held at The Duplex Cabaret Theater on March 21 at 9:30pm. Described by critic Gerry Geddes as "an Ed Sullivan Show for a new generation", this "variety show with an avant garde twist" is as unpredictable as the patroness herself. Each eclectic evening features a group of rising stars in stand-up, poetry, dance, songwriting, and performance art while the Broadway guests accept creative dares that arise from Mme. M's insane imagination.
This Soiree will feature storyteller Amy Jo Jackson (winner of the Soiree's Denovan Residency for Cabaret), dancer Greer Gisy, Magician Patrick Swailes Caldwell, essayist David Murray, writers Gundrum & Lambert, comedian Jessica Saul, and actress Samantha Blinn. Spicer will host. This is the 20th edition of the show, which has already featured over 180 individual artists and 37 Broadway guests.
The Duplex Cabaret Theatre is located at 61 Christopher Street. Free reservations can be made at https://www.theduplex.com/site/calendar . Tickets will cost $10 for guests arriving without a reservation.
