SHEQUIDA, Americas only Juilliard-trained drag opera diva (and a recent finalist on the NBC-TV show America's Got Talent) presents a limited engagement of HOLLY, JOLLY, JESSYE. Performances of this light-hearted holiday extravaganza by JESSYE NORMOUS, The World's Biggest Opera Diva (a larger-than-life character embodied by the petite Shequida), begin December 5th at The Cutting Room.

HOLLY, JOLLY, JESSYE is a very special holiday concert featuring spirited banter and all of Jessye's classic arias, her favorite Christmas songs, a sampling of negro spirituals, and some Chanukah favorites. The set list for this very big show in a very small room includes Feliz Navidad, O Come All Ye Faithful, Kumbaya, Swing Low Sweet Chariot and much, much more. It certainly wont be a Silent Night!

A Caribbean-born beauty with an astonishing five-octave vocal range, SHEQUIDA is the recipient of a Back Stage Bistro Award and is an Audelco Award nominee. Her recurring role as bartender Wendi Mercury on One Life to Live earned Shequida the distinction of being the first drag artist on a national soap opera. Shequida has showcased her acclaimed five-octave vocal range in theaters, concert halls, and nightclubs worldwide, and is particularly well-known in Germany and Spain. Her Off-Broadway shows "Shequida's Opera For Dummies" and "Popera!" have toured internationally, including  extended runs at PS 122 and Westbeth Theater. In 1996, Shequida was the USA Networks spokesmodel for Latin America and Brazil.

HOLLY, JOLLY, JESSYE  runs for three performances only: Fri. 12/5 at 10:30pm, Sun. 12/7 at 7:30pm, and Weds. 12/17 at 7:30pm. The Cutting Room is located at 19 West 24th Street, between 5th & 6th Aves -- accessible from the F train at 2nd Avenue. Tickets are $20, available at www.SpinCycleNYC.com or 212-352-3101.
