Becca C. Kidwell sings of her Gen-X midlife exploration in her new cabaret act, "A Song & Its Girl" on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 4:30pm at Don't Tell Mama.

Following her first show, "Oh Fudge! I'm Forty!" at the Metropolitan Room, Becca returns to the cabaret stage at Don't Tell Mama, under direction of Gretchen Reinhagen and musical direction of Tracy Stark, both MAC and Bistro Award winners, to declare her love of performance through song in her new show, "A Song & Its Girl" with music from the American Songbook, modern musical theatre, and popular music.

From careers in retail to accounting to teaching to theatre, Becca sought to find her place in this world. As she turned forty last year, she began to recognize and act upon the longings within to sing and perform that had been silenced for so long. Like many of her Gen-X peers heading into middle age, she was not looking for fast cars, more money, or any material reward. She was seeking a purpose-driven goal to make, at the very least, a small positive impact on the world around her.

Becca is the Artistic Director of Swiftly Tilting Theatre Project and has produced and directed four major productions. She founded the theatre review blog The New England Theatre Geek and has published a monograph on grief in the musical Next to Normal. She has a BA in Drama from The University of Georgia and a MAT in English Education from Boston University.

Don't Tell Mama is one of the oldest cabarets in the United States and is located in the theater district at 343 West 46th Street between 8th and 9th Avenue. The cover charge is $15.00 and there is a two-drink minimum. Discount available for MAC/ Salon/ and Swiftly Tilting Theatre alumni.
