Following the summer success of his feature documentary "Dirty Martini and the New Burlesque," winner of "Best Documentary Feature" at the 2010 Coney Island Film Festival, New York City director/producer Gary Beeber is set to unveil his newest endeavor Gotham Burlesque at The Triad Theater beginning on Saturday March 5th at 9:30PM.
Gotham Burlesque is not your father's burlesque. It combines elements of political satire, comedy, performance art, and dance into a unique entertainment event. Gotham Burlesque will feature some of the most celebrated burlesquers and variety acts in the world.
Burlesque super-star and New York School of Burlesque founder Jo Weldon will be performing with world renowned entertainers Throwdini, Ekaterina and the rising new burlesque star Gal Friday. Throwdini is the world's fastest and most accurate knife thrower and holder of 25 world records with appearances from the History Channel to Late Night with Conan Obrien. He will be joined by Ekaterina, the aerialist and acrobat, formerly of
Cirque du Soleil and former Miss Coney Island. Hosting the event will be James Habacker, the "Godfather of New Burlesque," as the unforgettable Mel Frye, on loan from The Slipper Room to provide the entertainment between performances.
The Triad NYC is a 130 seat venue beautifully decorated in the style of a historic Hollywood movie palace. "Many people have a limited understanding of what new burlesque actually is," states Director Gary Beeber, "In the intimate setting of The Triad, Gotham Burlesque will introduce people to the true essence of new burlesque."
Gotham Burlesque will be performed the first Saturday of each month beginning on March 5th at 9:30PM at The Triad Theater at 158 West 72nd Street in Manhattan. There will be a different show every month. For more information, please visit
