In the recent MAC Award show, Frank Torren was one of only three stalwarts of cabaret nominated for Best Male Vocalist. He's the real thing!

Theater has been a major part of Frank Torren's life since he was a young lad in the Latin Quarter of Tampa, Florida. His first theatrical pursuit was the lead in the school play, "The Little Dog Laughed." Soon he had teamed up with his sister to perform a dance act which toured all over and even was invited to a festival in Cuba.

Over the years, Frank devoted his professional life to theater, appearing in many musical comedies. Here are just some of the productions Frank has had prominent involvement in: Room Service, Say Darling, The Desk Set, Reluctant Debutante, Mary Mary, and the role of Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music. Soon he had won a role with Diana Sands and Julius La Rosa in the first national tour of Hallelujah, Baby! His career continued to build with a costarring role in Zorba with Michael Kermoyan and Vivian Blaine. He also supported Ann Reinking in Anything Goes and Jan Peerce in Fiddler on the Roof. Frank loved touring in the National company of Seesaw with John Raitt and Liz Torres. And of course, in the midst of all this, he became established as a New York City actor, with print ads, commercials, and extensive appearances on daytime dramas.

Now Frank Torren's autobiographical show goes into its second chapter with "Moment to Moment." It's a whole new cavalcade of carefully-selected songs that have much professional and personal meaning for Frank. Here are excerpts from the glowing reviews of Frank's previous one-man shows:

"Frank Torren premiered his first couple of acts around town in the last few seasons and had already laid the groundwork for what would be a sumptuous trek across the cabaret landscape. Indeed, his previous show at Don't Tell Mama proved to be marvelous cocktail canape. But his new show, Moment to Moment, proves the main course for which club audiences have been waiting to savor. And he delivers in spades. Moment to Moment absolutely classifies Frank Torren as an artist who has cemented the groundwork for a marvelous career in cabaret, and deservedly so. To merely say the gentleman is 'worth catching' would be a classic understatement." - Andrew Martin, NiteLife Exchange

"Frank Torren is one of those rare classy cabaret performers who takes you back to the days when cruise ships were a luxury and piano bars were De Rigeur. He fuses his Italian heritage with a Latin influence. Not only charming and sexy, but he's a delightful raconteur. His voice is smooth, and he makes the stage his home." - Karen Feld, PoliticalMavens.com

"Torren, clad in black tie and tuxedo, is a handsomely striking mature man and he reaches out in each selection to communicate directly to his audience. One of the rarest Mancini-Mercer songs, the title song from the movie 'Moment To Moment,' is given the full romantic delivery. His emotional delivery makes you realize what a neglected gem it is and what taste Torren has in his song selections." - Joe Regan Jr., Theater Pizzazz!

"Handsome and oh so debonaire Frank Torren performed a series of shows at Don't Tell Mama. Dressed elegantly in black tuxedo, Torren used his very pleasant masculine voice in English, Italian, Spanish and French to sing about, in his words, 'moments that take your breath away.' Between songs, he mixes interesting and amusing stories from his life to provide a nice continuity. The opening number, Andre and Dory Previn's 'Mine for the Moment,' set the stage for a warm and intimate show." - Ron Forman, Cabaret Scenes

"Frank Torren returned to DON'T TELL MAMA with a new show, 'Moment to Moment'... The room was packed - and rightly so. Frank is one of the most well loved performers in NYC cabaret - always ready with a smile and a song. His shows - as this one was - are 'audience friendly' with each song delivered with sincerity and conviction and a minimum of patter. It was great to see his return, and with the reception he received with this show, I am fairly certain we will see it return soon. By the way, when they invented tuxedos I am certain they had Frank Torren in mind." - Stu Hamstra - Cabaret Hotline Online

"A sweet mixture of nostalgia, humor and sentiment along with a fresh approach to the standards. Frank nailed it!" - Elliott Ames, WVOX Radio
