FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed "Best of New York" by New York Magazine, and "an invaluable New York institution" by The New York Post, continues its 10th Anniversary season with the debut of RON KAPLAN July 10 and 11. The show will be a collection of tunes from his latest CD, New York which pays tribute to one of the worlds most colorful and distinctive cities, New York. The show, which will also feature Steinway Artist Pete Malinverni as musical director, runs at Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).

For his show at Feinstein's Kaplan will perform a wide array of New York City-themed songs from the world of Broadway ranging from Leonard Bernstein's "New York, New York" to the Harry Warren and Al Dubin classic "Lullaby of Broadway" to the lesser known Rogers and Hart gem, "Give it Back To The Indians." "Although I am from California," says Kaplan, "every time I go to New York City I am always struck by the energy, excitement and exuberance of the place. It's the jazz capitol of the world. It's the home of Broadway theatre, Tin Pan Alley, and countless legendary songwriters over the past century. It is one of the few cities in the world that has had many, many songs written about it. The difficulty wasn't finding New York-themed songs, but deciding which ones to sing." The program will also feature such jazz standards as Billy Strayhorn's "Take the ‘A' Train" and the Cotton Club standard, "Harlem Nocturne" performed with Earle Hagen's seldom heard lyrics.

In addition to his career as a concert performer and recording artist, Kaplan is also known for his extensive efforts to preserve and protect the Great American Songbook. He is founder and executive director of American Songbook Preservation Society, a non-profit organization whose mission statement is: "To preserve our cultural treasure known as the Great American Songbook by performing this music to the public at home and abroad as Ambassadors of Song."
FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY will present RON KAPLAN on Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11 at 8:30 PM. The shows have a $25.00 cover with $40.00 premium seats, both with a $25.00 food and beverage minimum. Jackets are suggested but not required.
