Jaime Lozano and Florencia Cuenca - The Parental Units

Married couple and regular artistic collaborators, Florencia and Jaime are the de-facto parental leaders of a collective of Latin artists living and thriving in New York City. These Mexican artists moved to Manhattan with dreams of Broadway, and with a ringing public endorsement from a force of nature named Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jaime has been moving, steadily, toward The Big Street. With off-Broadway productions of musicals he has written, workshops and concert presentations of his new musicals, and always, always, always, something in the fire, there is no question of it happening - only a question of when. In the meantime, Jaime and Florencia are the folks behind THE FAMILIA - a group of Latin artists who want to work, who want to create, but who are also still looking for a place in the live entertainment industry. In these days of diversity, artists still struggle to get a place at the table: so The Familia created their own table. The members of The Familia are constantly creating art and opportunities for one another, and right at the front is Jaime. He writes the songs, he drives the train, he builds the productions, always with collaborators who share his vision and work ethic, and he puts his name right up front on every group concert that The Familia presents. After shows at 54 Below, Joe's Pub, The Green Room 42, and, now, Lincoln Center, Jaime, Florencia, and all of The Familia are getting to a point where they are a known entity, and where they should all be receiving invitations to the table, one where they belong. In the meantime, Mama Familia, Florencia, has been playing clubs, releasing albums, appearing in group shows, and, only last month, the Diva de Mexico made her headlining debut at Joe's Pub, all the while serving as real-life Mama to the couple's son. There is no task too small for Lozano and Cuenca to tackle, and, so far, they are scoring wins at every turn.
