Two Broadway legends, Penny Fuller, currently in the highly acclaimed Broadway revival of Sunday in the Park with George, and Anita Gillette, fresh from the TV series, CHICAGO MED, take the stage of Birdland with a reprise of their hilarious and touching duo show, Sin Twisters, Too, regaling us with more adventures of the Golden Age of Broadway (both were Sally Bowles in the original production of Cabaret), as well as riffs on LA, London, film, TV, motherhood, love, loss and friendship, (and, like the show's title, peppered with a spoonerism or two). Sin Twisters, Too celebrates the similarities and the surprising differences of these two remarkable artists and women in zesty story and harmonious song.

"Four Generations of Miles" Jimmy Cobb, Mike Stern, Buster Williams, Sonny Fortune
MiLes Davis' career as a trumpeter, composer and bandleader is synonymous with the stylistic evolution of jazz. His ensembles and recordings are the benchmarks for cool, post-bop and fusion as evidenced by these four-generations of artists who first gained recognition under Davis' leadership. Drummer Jimmy Cobb appeared on one of the most popular and influential recordings in history, "Kind of Blue" (1959) while guitarist Mike Stern ("We Want Miles," 1981), bassist Buster Williams ("Directions," 1960s) and alto saxophonist Sonny Fortune ("Big Fun," 1974) have the post-bop and fusion bases well covered.

Monday Michiru
Monday Michiru released her debut solo album in 1993 and was steadily recording and releasing albums in Japan and later in Europe, Australia, Asia and South America. In addition to her work as a solo artist, she also became a featured singer/writer, collaborating with groups and artists including DJ Krush, Mondo Grosso, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Basement Jaxx, UA, Masters At Work, Joe Clausell, Lisa Ono and many others. While she is best known for being one of the pioneers of the acid jazz movement in Japan in the early 90s and later as one of the few women in Japan's underground club scene, Monday has undoubtedly crossed over and beyond the scope of club music to a style that is undeniably and uniquely her own, fusing various influences such as jazz, soul, Latin and other elements. She is also one of the rare female singer/songwriters who produces her own work.

Named for alto saxophonist and jazz pioneer Charlie "Bird" Parker who dubbed it "The Jazz Corner of the World," Birdland opened on December 15th 1949. For 60 years it has been home to jazz legends, from Parker, John Coltrane Duke Ellington and Count Basie to Oscar Peterson, Hank Jones, Diana Krall and everyone in between. The original 52nd street location was a cultural barometer and meeting place, inspiring the songs "Birdland" and "Lullaby of Birdland," and serving as a regular haunt for celebrities and cultural figures. The modern incarnation is a state of the art nightclub featuring award winning Southern and Cajun cuisine, first rate sound and lighting and a who's who of contemporary musical artists, 7 nights a week.
Birdland is located at 315 West 44th Street (between 8th & 9th Avenues), New York, NY 10036.
