After more than fifteen years in the entertainment industry, Edrien Erasmus has gathered enough courage to open her heart to audiences in a solo show, ONTBLOOT, in which she reflects on her experiences as an artist, a woman and a human being. Consisting of dozens of original songs, several original comic pieces as well as a cabaret number or two, Erasmus is joined on stage by Mariëtte Galjaard at the piano and directed by Cobus Venter.
Erasmus numbers films such as VIR DIE VOELS, KAMTEREIN and RAAISELKIND among her credits and has also been seen in 7DE LAAN, HIGH ROLLERS, DONKERLAND, BLOEDBROERS, ELKE SKEWE POT and STERLOPERS. She is currently performing the role of Barta van Rooyen in Lefra's stage production of FIELA SE KIND, which is touring the country, and was featured in Lefra's hit farce, DAA' GAAT DIE BRUID.
Also famous for her roles in various musicals, including DROOMKIND, LIEFLING, ONS VIR JOU and LIED VAN MY HART, Erasmus invites audiences to visit her world in ONTBLOOT:
Being an artist or even just a creative person sometimes forces you to allow different characters in your heart and head. The big challenge, between all of the different characters, emotions, tours, writing, singing, creating, staying creative and thousands of other variables, is to stay true to youself. Honestly, to uncover just Edrien.
I don't promise that you will understand me as a human being after ONTBLOOT; I only promise a glimpse of the world that I mostly call my own. We are going to sing and laugh and cry - and afterwards, drink some wine.
ONTBLOOT runs at the old Potchefstroom City Hall as a part of Aardklop on 7 October at 21:00. Bookings can be made online through Computicket, by phone on 0861 915 8000, or in person at any Shoprite or Checkers outlet nationwide.
