Eden Espinosa to Join Jason Robert Brown at Subculture for Post-Election Drowning of Sorrow 11/14

A concert series curated by the renowned Tony Award-winning composer, lyricist, conductor, and director, Jason Robert Brown. Each unique performance will incorporate an eclectic mix of material, featuring music from throughout his acclaimed career, along with new works in development.

Special guests in past performances from this series have included Kelli O'Hara, Steve Pasquale, Norbert Leo Butz, Tom Kitt, Tony Danza, Laura Benanti, Cynthia Erivo, Tituss Burgess, Lena Hall, Ana Gasteyer, LaChanze, Shaina Taub, Megan Hilty, and more! This concert features special guests Eden Espinosa and Miranda Mulholland.*

On Monday, November 14th, Brown will be joined by Eden Espinosa and Miranda Mulholland, with special guest singers Jesse Warren-Nager, Patrice Turner and the band, Todd Reynolds, Gary Sieger, Michael Aarons, Randy Landau, and Clint DeGanon. The evening promises to feature "new songs, old songs, alarming amounts of fiddle playing, and hope."

Jason Robert Brown is the ultimate multi-hyphenate - composer, lyricist, conductor, arranger, orchestrator, director and performer - best known for his dazzling scores to several of the most renowned musicals of his generation, including The Bridges of Madison County, for which Jason received the 2014 Tony Awards for Best Score and Best Orchestrations; the seminal chamber musicalThe Last Five Years, now a feature film starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan; his debut song cycle Songs for a New World; and Parade, winner of the 1999 Best Score Tony. The New York Times refers to Jason as "a leading member of a new generation of composers who embody high hopes for the American musical."

His other musicals include Honeymoon In Vegas and 13, a film version of which is currently in development. His "novel symphony" The Trumpet of the Swan has been performed by the National Symphony Orchestra and around the world. Jason conducted Parade at Avery Fisher Hall in an all-star concert performance in February, 2015, and he is in the midst of recording a followup to his solo album, Wearing Someone Else's Clothes. His sold-out series of concerts at the Abrons Arts Center in 2012 yielded a television special and accompanying album, Jason Robert Brown In Concert With Anika Noni Rose.

Jason studied composition at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y., with Samuel Adler, Christopher Rouse, and Joseph Schwantner. Eden Espinosa was born and raised in Southern California. She is most recognized for her portrayal of Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked. She has also performed the role of the green witch in both Los Angeles and San Francisco to critical acclaim.

Other musical theater accomplishments include originating the title character in Brooklyn the Musicalfrom the original workshop through its Broadway run, starring as Flora in the Reprise Theater Company's production of Flora the Red Menace, and playing Maureen in the closing company of Rent, the final performance of which was filmed live for Sony, and is available on DVD and Blu-ray.

Eden is also well recognized from her many television appearances on shows such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Good Morning America, The Today Show, The 2008 Tony Awards, The 2008 Alma Awards performing with BeBe Winans, Law and Order, and Ugly Betty. Her voiceover credits include several episodes of Robot Chicken, MAD TV, and Sasha Caylo in Titan Maximum.

Known for her powerful and emotionally charged vocal style, she was the featured soloist in "Magical," the fireworks spectacular at the Disneyland Resort and can be heard on such recordings as Hair (BCEFA benefit recording), The Maury Yeston Songbook, Bright Lights, Big City, John McDaniel Live at Joe's Pub, and Scott Alan's Dreaming Wide Awake.

MIRANDA MULHOLLAND is a versatile performer, classically trained in violin and voice - performing frequently as a fiddler and a singer in a wide range of styles. She has toured extensively around the world performing solo and with Canadian and International stars. She is currently a member of Harrow Fair, Great Lake Swimmers, and Belle Starr and released her solo debut album, Whipping Boy, on the boutique label Roaring Girl Records to critical acclaim.
