After sold out performances the last two years, songwriters Drew Overcash, Blake Pfeil, and Zoe Sarnak are coming together one last time for Twenty-Somethings 3 at the Highline Ballroom on Monday, August 3rd.
The 8PM concert will feature songs never heard before from each songwriter, plus a fan favorite or two. Over the last two years, the Twenty-Somethings series has featured performances from Tony winner Alice Ripley, two time Tony nominee Robin de Jesus, Glee's Laura Dreyfuss, Richard H. Blake, Nic Rouleau, Lauren Pritchard, and more. This year's guest performers will be annouced soon.
Also, the "Fresh Pens" contest will return this year looking for the next big songwriter. Selected by a panel of judges including Richard H. Blake (Jersey Boys, Wicked), Laura Pietropinto (director/producer of Cutting Edge Composers), Nic Rouleau (The Book of Mormon), and Christy Altomare (Mamma Mia, Spring Awakening), the winner will have the opportunity to be paired up with a Broadway Star and perform their song on the Highline Ballroom stage. Last year's winner, Kailey Marshall, had her song "Give It Up" performed to a packed house at Twenty-Somethings 2. Here's what she had to say, "Winning the Fresh Pens contest was such an exhilarating experience, especially for someone so new to the musical theatre writing scene. Hearing my song alongside songwriters that I really admire was worth so much, and hearing my song performed by incredible vocalists was such a treat. It really encouraged me to keep writing and to create my own concert experiences."
Submissions are now open. The deadline is Friday, June 26 and the winner will be announced Friday, July 10. To learn more, please visit: http://www.drewovercash.com/fresh-pens.
