Throughout theatre history, there have been a few bold pioneers-in-heels who crashed the boys' club, and wrote hit songs and shows like "On the Sunny Side of the Street," Sweet Charity, On the Town, "Witchcraft," Once Upon a Mattress, and so much more. This entertaining and moving 75 minute revue celebrates these songwriters-against the backdrop of the current world's surprisingly ongoing conversation... "What is a woman's place?"

Author and dramatist Deborah Grace Winer is a leading expert on the classic American Songbook and musical theatre. She recently completed a nine-season run as artistic director of the 92Y's venerable Lyrics & Lyricists American songbook concert series, presiding over 50 original shows and steering the nearly 50-year-old NYC tradition back to audience and critical acclaim.

Drama Desk Award winner Kenita Miller is currently on Broadway in Once on this Island. She recently appeared off Broadway in Playwrights Horizons' Bella: An American Tall Tale, as well as in Broadway's The Color Purple and Xanadu.

Margo Seibert starred on Broadway last season in Circle in the Square's In Transit, directed by Kathleen Marshall, as well as originating the role of Adrian in the Broadway musical Rocky, for which she was nominated for a Drama League Award.

Emily Skinner recently garnered critical acclaim on Broadway in her starring role in Manhattan Theatre Club's Prince of Broadway. Her many lauded Broadway performances include her Tony-nominated performance in Side Show, as well as Billy Elliot, Jekyll and Hyde, The Dead and The Full Monty.

Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba's Broadway appearances include her recent critically acclaimed turn in MTC's Prince of Broadway, as well as Contact, Curtains, Bullets Over Broadway, Steel Pier and Crazy for You. Last season she starred off-Broadway in Kid Victory and Horton Foote's The Traveling Lady.

Mark Waldrop (director) is currently working with Sutton Foster on her PBS Live From Lincoln Center concert, and has directed her in three previous Lincoln Center evenings. He directed and wrote special material for the Tony Award-nominated Bea Arthur on Broadway...Just Between Friends and Bette Midler's Divine Miss Millennium Tour. He is director, book writer and lyricist for the legendary Howard Crabtree's When Pigs Fly.

John Oddo (music director) was pianist for NBC's Tony Bennett 90th Birthday special, and worked as music director/arranger/pianist for Rosemary Clooney (for almost 20 years), Tony Danza, Christine Ebersole, Tony Bennett, Barbara Cook, and Michael Feinstein, including Feinstein's recent PBS specials from the Rainbow Room. He is a frequent arranger for the Boston Pops.
