Tonight, March 11th, the Cornelia Street Cafe presents Gnu Vox: Lori Perez CD Release and a spoken word performance by Eve Packer (words) and Stephanie Stone (piano).

GNU VOX: LORI PEREZ -- CD RELEASE
(Lori Perez, voice; Xavier Perez, saxophone; Alex Brown, piano; Aidan O'Donnell, bass; Franco Pinna, drums)

Lori Perez started out as a small town girl from southwestern Minnesota. This was farm country, where you could see the sky and land for miles, the kind of place where your imagination could run and play. It was here that Lori began interpreting her own lyrics, and she continues to reinterpret and arrange standards to fit her unique style.
While school gave her a foundation and understanding of music, it was the world experience; the tours, and singing in Miami and NYC that helped her discover her voice. Since arriving in New York City, Lori has written, recorded and produced music for her debut CD, "I Shall Find". By taking familiar songs and pairing them with new harmonies, Lori tells a new story - her story. "I Shall Find" is a weaving of her experiences, influences and inspirations melded with her life stories and memories. What emerges is a brilliant musical blend with a lingering note of hope.
