On Monday, August 4th, eleven emerging and established Broadway performers will star in Broadway Gets GLAAD, a concert to benefit GLAAD, the leading organization in support of a positive LGBT image in the entertainment industry.
Broadway favorites, new material, and contemporary pop songs will be performed throughout the evening. Pippin star Ciara Renée, celebrated composer-lyricist Scott Alan, and Breaking Down the Riff star Natalie Weiss will headline the event.
GLAAD "works with print, broadcast and online news sources to bring people powerful stories from the LGBT community that build support for equality. GLAAD serves as the communications epicenter of the LGBT movement, equipping advocacy leaders with the tools they need to communicate more effectively. GLAAD is also reinventing the way social media moves equality forward."
The August 4 concert will feature Scott Alan, Mia Gentile (Forbidden Broadway), Sean Green Jr. (Trailblazers,Grassroots), Marja Harmon (The Book of Mormon), Brian Charles Johnson (American Idiot, Spring Awakening), Megan McGinnis (Little Women, Thoroughly Modern Millie), Ciara Renée (Pippin, Big Fish), Jessica Vosk (The Bridges of Madison County), Jacob Keith Watson (Violet), Natalie Weiss (Everyday Rapture), and Ari McKay Wilford (Once). Julia Mattison (Godspell) will host. More performers will be announced as the event nears.Broadway Gets GLAAD: A Benefit Concert is produced by Kayla Greenspan and August Laska. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by phone at (212) 967-7555, in person at 425 Lafayette Street, or online at www.JoesPub.com. Doors will open at 6pm and the performance will begin at 7:30pm. There is a $12 or two drink minimum.
