For one night only, award winning playwright Christopher Durang will reunite with singing group Dawne at Feinstein's/54 Below.
Chris Durang & Dawne (John Augustine & Sherry Anderson) first performed together in 1989. Subsequently, the group played sold out engagements throughout New York City. Their last public performance was in January of 1996. They came together for a brief reunion to accept The Nightlife Award in 2012.
Offering wildly different interpretations of standard songs, Chris Durang & Dawne will bring their same offbeat styling to Feinstein's/54 Below'sBroadway Goes To The Movies, a celebration of iconic musical moments in movie history.
Mr. Durang is best known as the Tony Award winning playwright of such works as Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For You, The Actor's Nightmare, Beyond Therapy, The Marriage of Bette and Boo and Baby With The Bathwater.
Chris Durang and Dawne join previously announced EGOT winners Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson Lopez (Frozen), Claybourne Elder (The Carrie Diaries), Caroline Bowman (Wicked), Emmy nominee Tovah Feldshuh (The Walking Dead), Seth Sikes (Mostly Judy Garland), Tally Sessions (Big Fish), Austin Pendelton (My Cousin Vinny), Allison Guinn (On The Town), Emma Stratton (Bullets Over Broadway), Jeff Nominee Nathan Gardner (Death for Five Voices), Brad Foster Reinking (Shrek), and Christopher Lee Viljoen (54 Sings Chess).
The concert is directed and produced by Robert W. Schneider. Joshua Zecher-Ross is the evening's musical director.
