I'M JUST GLAD YOU'RE HERE, a collection of songs with lyrics by Charlie Sohne, will be performed at the Laurie Beechman Theatre on Monday, October 5 at 9:30 p.m. The show features performances by Celina Carvajal (Toxic Avenger, MTV's "Legally Blonde: The Search for the Next Elle Woods"), Sevan Greene (Betrayed), Amy Justman (White Christmas, Company), Jed Resnick (Rent national tour, Avenue Q), Jodi Stevens (Urban Cowboy, Jekyll & Hyde) and Mariand Torres (Giant). The show includes music by David Gaines, Tim Rosser, Matt Van Brink, and Chris Wade.

I'M JUST GLAD YOU'RE HERE boasts a variety of new songs from three original musicals Sohne is writing with different collaborators. Helen's (music by David Gaines, book co-written with Dean Gray) tells the true story of Helen Branson, who opened a gay bar in the 1950s that refused to admit effeminate men. Cleaner! Faster! Stronger! (music by Matt Van Brink) depicts a housewife's journey towards sexual liberation after the pitchwoman for her favorite cleaning product is outed as a porn star. The Profit of Creation (music by Tim Rosser), a fantastical spin on the intelligent design movement, is about a liberal scientist who takes a bribe from a right-wing organization to develop the science behind "creationism." I'M JUST GLAD YOU'RE HERE will also include standalone cabaret songs (music by David Gaines and Chris Wade).

Charlie Sohne is a librettist/lyricist based in New York. His most recent show, Tina Girlstar (lyricist; book by Anton Dudley music by Brian Feinstein), has received readings at the Lark Play Development Center and New 42nd Street Studios, and it was one of three musicals presented at this summer's New York Stage and Film. The show is also under commercial option by Olympus Theatricals. In addition, Sohne has been commissioned by Cherry Lane Theater to write lyrics for a new musical, Kissing the Underworld. Sohne is currently in the BMI Workshop and a proud member of both the Dramatists Guild and ASCAP.

The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located at 407 W. 42nd St. on the corner at 9th Ave. and 42nd St., below the West Bank Café. There is a $10 door fee and a $15 food/drink minimum.
