HOT MESS IN MANHATTAN began as an award-winning one woman show featuring Cait Doyle as "Mess": a sort of 'Bridget Jones' with the mouth of Amy Schumer and a love of Liza. She teamed up with sister Meggie Doyle to write a libretto surrounding the larger-than-life character, and sought out music & lyrics ideal for a 'hot mess'. This groundbreaking musical features music & lyrics by not two, not three, but thirteen (13) of New York's favorite theatre writers, including Gaby Alter, Nick Blaemire, Sam Carner & Derek Gregor, Ryan Cunningham & Joshua Salzman, Sarah Kervin, Michael Mahler, Julianne Wick Davis, Drew Gasparini, Adam Gwon, Brian Lowdermilk & Kait Kerrigan, Ryan Scott Oliver and Keith Varney. With support from the Araca Group, HOT MESS IN MANHATTAN: the Musical debuted with a sold out run at the Chernuchin Theatre off-Broadway.
Director David Ruttura (School of Rock) and musical director James Cunningham(American Shakespeare Company's Kiss Me, Kate) have returned to direct this one-night only special concert. The evening will also feature the debut of the latest (and final!) musical addition to the show, "Something to Show For It", by Sarah Kervin.
