Broadway Actress Soara-Joye Ross (Les Miserables, Dessa Rose, Dance of the Vampires) will be making her Solo Cabaret Debut in "This Is My Life...Gotta Fly!" at The Laurie Beechman Theatre on October 7th at 7pm for one night only.
From classic show-tunes to alternative rock to neo-soul, "This Is My Life... Gotta Fly" is a one-night-only roller coaster evening of music and storytelling starring the enchanting Soara-Joye Ross. Before embarking on a highly anticipated Broadway National Tour (official cast announcement will be announced very soon) Soara-Joye makes her solo cabaret debut giving her audience an exclusive send-off singing favorites made famous by Shirley Bassey, Barbra Streisand and Leontyne Price to name a few. Ms. Ross will be accompanied by her band headed by musical genius and Broadway pianist Brian P. Whitted who works with Bette Midler and currently plays in Chicago the Musical.Soara-Joye begins rehearsals for the highly anticipated tour in less than two weeks. Her Broadway debut was made back in 2002 in Dance of the Vampires starring Phantom of the Opera's Michael Crawford and was also in the 2008 Revival of Les Miserables. At Carnegie Hall she was in Jerry Springer: The Opera and originated the role of Annabel in Lincoln Center's Dessa Rose.
Off-Broadway Ms. Ross played "sexually voracious and outspoken but genuine and poignant SBF 2" in the two woman comedy Single Black Female directed by Colman Domingo at The Duke on 42nd and the "magnetic" Ros in NYMF's 2010 Trav'lin the Musical. Soara-Joye was in the Roundabout Theatre Company's Tin Pan Alley Rag and recently played 70 year old, Mama Lila, in new musical Cross That River (Pat and Allan Harris) directed by Andrew Wilk and Donna McKechnie. For her riveting performance, she was garnered NYMF's 2009's "Best of Fest" Award for Outstanding Individual Performance. A workshop of Cross That River took place this summer at Theatre Aspen and 2 years prior at The O'Neill Theatre Center directed by Michael Bush.
Soara-Joye graduated from The American Musical and Dramatic Academy and J. Beckson Studios. She was nominated for the Colorado Theatre Guild's Leading Actress Award for Elton John's Aida at The Arvada Center and has just come off of the Divorce Party the Musical World Premiere Tour.
