About Broadway to the Rescue

Created by Executive Producer Michael-Leon Wooley, Producer Kymberli McKanna & Production Manager Jules Brudek, Broadway to the Rescue is a group of professional Broadway actors and actresses who have banned together to support Hope of the Valley and their mission to provide an array of vital services to the ever growing homeless population in the Valley and surrounding areas.

Having raised nearly $35,000 for Hope of the Valley, the LA based Broadway veterans are using their talents to create an inclusive, prosperous, entertaining space in the Los Angeles theatre scene. Their hope is to double their fund-raising efforts for The Big Fat Christmas Show.

Michael-Leon Wooley, who started as a volunteer for Hope of the Valley, stated "We are passionate about the life-changing services the Mission provides to the homeless that include, but are not limited to: hot meals, housing, health services, healing, and hope. And you won't just find performers onstage belting one out to raise money! You can frequently find us out in the field - serving lunches, doing chores and lending a helping hand at any of their multiple facilities."

Their roster of performers includes an impressive resume of nearly 100 renowned Broadway shows. To name a few: Hamilton, The Book of Mormon, Wicked, Hairspray, Les Miserables, Little Shop Of Horrors, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Gypsy, Five Guys Named Moe, The Music Man, Dreamgirls, Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Mary Poppins, Miss Saigon, Flower Drum Song, Wonderful Town, Sweet Charity, The Wedding Singer, Footloose, A Chorus Line, Priscilla Queen Of The Desert, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Annie, The Color Purple and many, many more!

"We are thrilled to see the overwhelming response from Broadway elite singers and performers to help address the homeless crisis in Los Angeles. In the past 12 months, homelessness has increased 37% in the San Fernando Valley. This is unprecedented. And of that increase, 25% are individuals 55 years of age and older. Each person attending this world class event will not only be awed by the talent and gifts of each performer, they will have the satisfaction of knowing they are part of the solution to reducing homelessness in Los Angeles." said Ken Craft, President & CEO of Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission. "We are currently in the process of opening a new facility that will provide a higher quality of service and create a safe environment for the homeless. This benefit will allow us to make the facility even more successful than we ever imagined."
