Musical director and performer Brian Nash (Silence! The Musical, the upcoming Beaches) will celebrate the release of his debut solo album, "Forever/After" with an album release concert May 8th at 9:30pm at 54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club.
Produced by Nash and Jason McConnell, the pianist and signer's album features arrangements of songs by Jason Robert Brown, Ben Folds, Stephen Sondheim, Jason Mraz, Stephen Trask, and Patty Griffin, among others. Though this will mark his 26th time performing at 54 Below, this will be Nash's first time performing a solo show in the venue. Backed by a full band (Michael Herklots on drums, Mat Fieldes on bass, and Chris Biesterfeldt on guitars) and a string quartet, Nash will perform the album in its entirety. Brian Nash has principally made his name as a musical director and orchestrator in the off-Broadway and concert worlds. Most recently, he was announced as the musical director of the pre-Broadway tryout of Beaches at Drury Lane Theatre outside Chicago, and music directed Laura Benanti, Lena Hall, Kyle Dean Massey, and Rachel Bay Jones in the sold-out Broadway Sings Tori benefit concert for RAINN at (le) poisson rouge. He was the musical director and orchestrator of the off-Broadway hit Silence! The Musical and co-produced its cast album, and has been featured on recordings by alt-rock band Boys Like Girls, singer-songwriters Shanna Sharp, Justin Tranter, and Stacy Allyn Baker, vocalist Kate Pazakis, and Kinky Boots' Natalie Joy Johnson. With Johnson, he created Co-Dependent Mondays, a weekly show at Therapy that has been running since 2011, and is also the resident musical director at the long-running Mostly Sondheim at The Duplex. His concert work has featured performances with Deborah Cox, Kathy Najimy, Mandy Gonzales, Tonya Pinkins, Andy Bell, Amy Poehler, Cady Huffman, Lillias White, Molly Pope, and Courtney Act, among many others. He is a musical director for Atlantis Events and was recently featured in a New York Times article about the LGBT travel industry, and his solo concerts of the music of Tori Amos have sold out venues such as the Zipper Theater.
