Brand New Gender SWAP Cabaret Comes to The West End Lounge Image

SWAP (Songs With Another Perspective), the newest gender-swapping cabaret, holds up a quirky magnifying glass to some of the more stereotypical, problematic, and oddly curious gender moments in the American musical theatre cannon.

Produced and directed by Alex Beck (Disney's The Happiest Millionaire 50th Anniversary Concert) with Andy Roninson (Take a Ten Podcast) on the keys, you're in for a fun (and sometimes downright weird) evening that turns 80 years of Broadway preconception on its head while leaving a gender-fluid smile on your face.

Performers for the SWAP Cabaret include Billie Aken-Tyers (Hood: The Robin Hood Musical Adventure), Cameron Bartell (The Happiest Millionaire 50th), Max Bitar (La Maupin), Garrett Bruce (Lady Songs for the Gentle Man), Amanda Bruton (The Addams Family), Paul Blaise Corning Jr (Sleep No More), Michael Cummings (Don't Touch Your Eyes After Chopping Jalepenos & Other Life Lessons), Justin Goodemoot (APT Theater), Krystle Guidry, Darius Anthony Harper (Cirque du Soleil Volta), Justin Henry (The Love Show), Michael R. Jackson (A Strange Loop), Ryan Lammer (Irving Berlin's I Love a Piano), Eryn LeCroy (Sweeney Todd at Barrow St), Caitlin Lester-Sams (Flashdance), Merrill Peiffer (A Closer Walk With Patsy Cline), Vanessa Pereda-Felix (Addy & Uno), Jason Pintar (The Underpants Godot), Matthew Rodgers, Cassandra Sandberg (Living for Today at Joe's Pub), Shawn Shafner (The POOP Project), Cadi Withers.

Proceeds for the evening are going to the EstroGenius Festival, an annual celebration of female voices, and one of New York City's largest women's arts festivals. Founded by Fiona Jones in 2000, the festival debuted with a program of 10 short plays and music. Since then, it has grown into a multi-week event including short plays, solo shows, teen performances, visual art, and dance. The organization is committed to providing opportunities to female artists - in a variety of disciplines - ranging from the emerging to the seasoned professional. Recently, EstroGenius provided scholarships for girls to attend school in Niger.

SWAP is Monday, April 9th at 8pm. Running time is 2 hours. Tickets are at $5 cash at the door.

The West End Lounge is located at 955 West End Ave, NYC (at 107th St). The venue calls for a two drink or food minimum, cash only.
